Various Israeli strikes against southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday have left at least two people killed and one wounded. The attacks appear to have generally targeted civilian infrastructure, and the IDF has yet to explain the rationale.
The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that one of the strikes targeted an excavator in the town of Sohmor, in the eastern Bekaa Valley. This is not the first time Israel has targeted general construction equipment inside Lebanon, with deadly consequences.
Another strike went after a water tanker in Nabatieh al-Fawqa, plainly a civilian target. One person was killed in the attack, and they have not been identified. Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Israel has gone after water-related infrastructure in that town.
Back in May, an Israeli drone attacked and killed a municipal employee who was in the process of repairing a broken well. The IDF claimed he was a “Hezbollah terrorist” but offered no evidence to support that allegation.
The one Monday strike that the Israeli military did attempt to identify was in Aitaroun, where they attacked what they say were “Hezbollah weapon depots.” They did not offer evidence for that, and one person was reportedly wounded in the attack.
Additional strikes were reported in Kfar Rumman and Jarmaq, and a house was hit by a drone in Houmin. No casualties are yet reported in any of those strikes.
