Israel continued its attacks on Lebanon today, in violation of the ceasefire that has been in place since November. Today they attacked in Lebanon’s far north, hitting the city of Tripoli in a strike that killed at least two and wounded three.
Like so many other attacks, the strike targeted a vehicle, killing the driver and causing casualties around the area. Details of who all the casualties were are still not clear, though the IDF claimed they had killed a “key Hamas terrorist” in the attack.
The IDF statement didn’t elaborate on this, though some Israeli media outlets have since claimed the man was Mahran Mustafa Baajour, who they say was Hamas’ “Planning Department Chief.” Hamas has not commented on the matter.

Israel almost always posthumously promotes the people they killed to being high-ranking members of some organization or another. Yesterday they also killed two people in southern Lebanon, and are now saying one of them was “a senior commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.”
There has been no independent confirmation from Hezbollah that they actually lost a member in yesterday’s Deir Kifa strike, let alone a senior commander. Given how many senior commanders the Radwan Force would have lost in Israeli strikes if the IDF is to be believed, however, it’s a wonder the organization exists at all anymore.
The strike in Tripoli is an unusual stray into the far north of Lebanon, as Israel mostly strikes the south. It is noteworthy that recent reports are that Israel and Syria are engaged in secret talks that would see Tripoli and the rest of northern Lebanon given to Syria in return for Israel keeping parts of the Golan Heights.
