President Trump on Thursday urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stop” following major Russian strikes on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, which local officials said killed at least 12 people.
“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Lets get the Peace Deal DONE!”
According to The Associated Press, the strikes on Kyiv were the heaviest since July. At least five neighborhoods in the capital city were hit, and multiple residential buildings were heavily damaged. On top of the 12 people killed by the bombardment, at least 90 were wounded.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that its forces carried out “massive” strikes on Ukraine, claiming that it targeted Ukrainian industries linked to its military. “The goal of the strike has been accomplished. All targets have been hit,” the ministry said, according to RT.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia fired a total of 66 missiles and 145 drones. Ukrainian forces also fired drones at Russian territory, with the Russian Defense Ministry saying its forces downed 90 Ukrainian drones.
Zelensky also offered criticism of the Trump administration on Thursday, claiming the US wasn’t putting any pressure on Russia to reach a peace deal. “I don’t see any strong pressure on Russia or any new sanctions packages against Russia’s aggression,” he said.
A day earlier, Trump slammed Zelensky for harming peace talks by rejecting the idea of recognizing Crimea as Russian as part of a potential future deal. Zelensky has signaled he’s not interested in the US proposal to end the war, which the Trump administration has presented as a final offer.
“This statement is very harmful to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost years ago under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion,” Trump said on Wednesday.
US envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet with Putin on Friday to discuss the prospects for a potential peace deal, although the meeting hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Trump should take the same stand on the genocide in Gaza and Israel's Empire in the ME.
Trump not only supports Israel's counter attack in Gaza, but he wants Israel to expand it to included removing Palestinians from Gaza. The people in the USA had a choice in November and they choose trump. They knew trump was very pro Israel, he said to many times. So what Israel is doing in Gaza is OK by the majority of Americans.
And what would be different if Harris had won? More red lines that she would allow Israel to ignore? Did Harris ever use the word "ironclad" or "unwavering" when she talked about her support for Israel?
Yeah but the election loser gets to cry "I told you so" and then run with it the next time, rinse and repeat.
Harris has the same skill level at campaigning as Hillary did.
That's true. But if the Democratic Party had not spent decades betraying the working people of America it purports to represent, even a mediocre campaigner would have easily won against Trump.
So now we are in the absurd situation where a billionaire who has only contempt for the hoi polloi is getting their votes.
Simple answer to your question. Harris would not run around telling the world that the best solution to the Gaza Israel problem was the eliminating the Palestinians from Gaza.
Wonderful. Never mind that she would have ALLOWED it to happen just like her "boss" Biden did. And remember, she said bluntly that she wouldn't have done anything differently than him.
Harri was less than helpful on Gaza. Not ONE WORD OF SYMPATHY THAT OUR AMERICAN BOMBS WERE BEING USED TO GENOCIDE THEM!!!!
"So what Israel is doing in Gaza is OK by the majority of Americans."
And by you – up until Trump won in Nov then all of a sudden "Bim Turns" hacked your account & you suddenly act like you WEREN'T an unabashed pro-genocide ASI Apologist before 5 Nov 2024.
To extrapolate that because Trump won the vote therefore most Americans approve of his stance on Gaza is sheer idiocy, which is what I’d expect from you. Biden won in 2020. Does that mean most people agree with him blowing up the Nordstream pipeline? Silly Zio, more Americans now oppose Israel than support it, and that will only get more lopsided as people educate themselves.
First there is no proof that Biden blew up the pipeline. Second, Americans knew what trump was all about. So yea they support his actions in Gaza. Do you see any significant protests to trump's Gaza policies?
So if it wasn't Biden, then who was it? The Ukrainians did it on their own initiative? The Russians blew up their own pipeline? Who?
I mean, if you're really that stupid, I have a beautiful swamp in Florida for you. It's gorgeous, the best ever, you'd love it!
No proof other than Biden saying it would happen.
Trump campaigned on a platform of peace and ending "stupid WARS". As far as Israel goes, for the first time in history Americans have a negative view of the Jewish state. The Gaza genocide has been a public relations disaster for Israel in the US, never mind the rest of the world.
Most Americans disapprove of the war and genocide in Gaza. People protesting it said “Biden, Biden, You Can’t Hide, We Charge You With Genocide” and “Genocide Joe Has Got To Go”. Harris said it’s worth repeating “Israel Has The Right To Defend Itself”.
Biden created blurred red lines that Israel crossed because they were blurred lines.
Long before Biden was the POTUS and VPOTUS, he said the US would have to invent an Israel if it did not exist. He and Harris said the USA has ironclad support for Israel.
People protesting the genocide voted Third Party or did not vote at all.
HaveI'm not sure you are right. I don't believe most Americans would be or are O.K. with this blatant genocide. Perhaps our media is O.K. with this genocide but I don't think Joe Sixpack is O.K. On Jewish States wanton slaughter of tens thousands of innocent women & children!!! Some pollsters have said the Trump win was due to disillusioned Democrats not turning out 4 Harris because she was so MIA on doing
something to stop the slaunghter in Gaza!
The majority that voted. Don’t assume we all voted, because our two choices were support Israel or support Israel more. Personally, this last election is the first I didn’t vote.
He isn't taking any stand. That's the problem. My best guess? He bluffs and huffs and puffs, and then walks away, perhaps cutting the Ukrainians from supplies and intel, perhaps not.
If he doesn't win, he takes his ball and goes home.
If only
One thing is clear: Trump is a very good showman. If one day they impeach him, he can go straight to circus and get job there.
Hahaha, he'll never be impeached – not so with any consequences at least.
He has been impeached twice, but not convicted.
And twice there were no consequences.
I should have said “impeached to the point of practical effect”.
That's what I've been saying too, he'd make an excellent carnival barker. The best ever, he'd be yuge.
A new Barnum?
And Bailey, all rolled into one!
And Bozo the Clown.
He already has a remarkable talent for hiring clowns.
I can imagine him as a clown getting cannoned from one end to the other…!
Correct. Genius con artist as well.
Should they actually succeed in impeachment and removal, Trump would turn it into the Greatest Show on Earth with plenty of puppet clapping.
read a funny comment that said trump’s whole schtick is just a Ric Flair ripoff
WOOOOO!
& I think defense secretary’s schtick is just an ”Ultimate Warrior” ripoff.
The US cant put any pressure on Russia, Russia is kicking the collective west's butt. Russia holds all the cards and it's Z that needs to cry uncle while he still has a country left.

It's funny, I don't remember him ever posting "Zelensky, STOP!" when Ukraine is launching attacks Russian cities.
Funny, I remember Trump calling Zelensky a "dictator".
https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/498e35cca3239b616502c276498433a7d88a9cd761db6e1146c21025fc3126b8.jpg
Yes, he called Zelensky a dictator because he is. But he’s still providing weapons, intelligence, and other support to the green goblin. So what’s your problem?
Trump plays people and he is "good" at it. Without it he would never have gotten where he is. Also by playing people against each other he comes out on top. He did it in his own disfunctional family that after many tantrums both father, mother and siblings danced to Donald's tunes. His kids are heavily under his thumb.
something has changed. For the first time Russia is hitting buildings in Kiev that are government agencies alternate or back up sites. Russia had a vast intelligence network in Ukraine, but has only on occassion hit such targets, and mostly outside Kiyev.
This apprars to be an escallation. Zelenski responded by attack on a drone manufacturing in Tatarstan — indicating his access to intelligence supplied by his Western partners. While escalatory, this is not very damaging. Such priliductuonbis in Russia decenralized over ten time zones.
However, Russia’s attack on Kiev government distributed sites in Kiev is something new and may be part of a new strategy.
it is anyone’s guess — but my take is that Ukraine part of US-Russia negotiations are not going anywhere . Bylateral talks are clearly satisfactory to both parties.
Since it is vedy clear that Trump does not want to spend too much (if any) political capital on resolving the crisis, adress the root causes and bring Europe along — Russia must change its strategy as well.
There is no rational process leading to armistice, while cease fires so far have been farsical, regardless whose side one in on.
By moving in on secondary sites Russia is avoiding the drama that would ensue by hitting say Ministry of Defence or other security apparatus. But with an approximately same effectiveness. Why do that unless operation is planned that does require degrading Kiev central government . Operations in the East are moostly managed from Dnyepro and other regional centers.
This may mean opening another front from Belarus, aiming at cutting off tranit corridors between Poland and Kiyev and or Odessa and Kiev.
We will see what it all means. But Russis may be looking at other options in the light of Trump’s complete detachment from trully solving security issues between Russia and Europe. Trump is indiferent to the new militant rhetotlric coming from Berlin, as the 80 anivesary is approaching of the dramatic events that transpired there. Trump is clearly indifferent or perhaps even supportive of a new and muscular role UK is playing to destabilize Balkans and set on fire another part of Europe to further inflame and undermine regional push for disingeging from Ukainian conflict,
Why has UK cut a security deal with Bosnian Moslem government in Sarajevo at the expense of Serbian canton within Federation. Why is Serb leader warning against Brirish soecial ops and Bosnia flooded with spies? Why sudden interest in this non-Nato country?
Why aBritish and Brussels sponsorsip of Croatia, Albania, Kosovo “ defense” agrerment?
Why aother color rrvolution zeal in Belgrade, sans US? Al. British, Brussels and Israel involvement? Is it because otherwise unpopular and Brussels faithful servant Vucic refused to sanction Russia and is attending May 9 parade in Moscow. But suddenly there is this rather peculiar new alliancw of sorts between Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia.
This feels like UKmaneuvering before WWI.
Let us hope Germany will not step on that rake for the third time.
Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia are Putin’s allies.
sadly
They also happen to represent probably the only Trump supporters in Europe. Italy’s Malone can go either way.
Let's get Zelensky to sign the peace deal

French President Emmanuel Macron said Putin should "stop lying" when he claims to want peace while continuing to bomb Ukraine. "There is only one answer we are waiting for: Does President Putin agree to an unconditional ceasefire?" Macron said during a visit to Madagascar. He added that American "anger should focus on just one person: President Putin."

Is this guy a moron, or what? Does he understand what war even means?
Perhaps he thinks war is just like wrestling, with a referee and a crowd screaming for fake blood.
If there's any kind of settlement – recognizable as such – it will be a frigging miracle.
He is a fucking moron. Who conducts diplomacy via social media posts?
President Donald Trump entered office in January 2025 with a promise to end the Ukraine war in one day. No one was surprised that he failed, but Trump did shock everyone by ordering the end of American aid to Ukraine. The United States provided most of the military and economic aid that Ukraine needs to continue its losing war with Russia. Within a few weeks, Ukraine would be forced to accept inevitable defeat and begin peace negotiations with Russia. For unknown reasons, Trump quickly resumed aid and began an idiotic effort to convince Russia to accept a ceasefire and stop winning the war so Ukraine’s army can recover as NATO “peacekeepers” deploy to Ukraine. This devolved into a circus as this short video explains:
" For unknown reasons" Trump started supporting the Ukraine with weapons and other means again? No those are not "unknown reasons". Everything Trump says or does gets reversed when no one is looking. It is his standard operating style.
… And Putin tells Trump he told Zelenski to Stop after numerous breaking of the temporary Easter ceasefire…!
lol
Shouting stop at another sovereign nation is a bit absurd!
The world is now multipolar, and President Trump cannot dictate to another country that America has been pushing a proxy war on.
President Trump has been given very bad advice from NEOCONs and warmongers. He needs to fire Kellogg ASAP!
One can not give trump bad advice because trump does not take advice. He just does what he feels like doing that day with no long term plan.
Maybe he shouldn't surround himself with them. AGAIN.
He hired them again.
Trump plays everyone for him to always come out on top. Frankly he a genius in driving everyone nuts so he can shine. No wonder MAGA thinks he is god.
On impulse… he cannot think that far…!
Trump orders Putin to stop.
Putin says; Shut your mouth, Go away, Momma look a booboo day.
Our "Zauberlehrling", Putin is his broom and the Russo-Ukrainian war is the water. Unfortunately for the student, there is no master who can save his arrogance.
Russia is the good guy though, right?
Russia is fighting a holy war against Nazism
I have seen Zelenskyy wear his swastika
Looks like Trump loves Nazis. "Please stop bombing my neo-Nazi friends in Ukraine" and "my Zionist Nazi friends in Israel have a free pass from me to carry on genocide with our US bombs". The stench of hypocrisy is overwhelming.
The quite impressive/scary missile attacks (allegedly retaliation for Ukraine attacking Russia during the unilateral Easter truce):
It seems Oreshnik was also involved…!
Both autocratic presidents of the hegemonic states U.S. and Russia do not respect the treaties, norms, resolutions etc. of the UN and OSCE as the supreme law of the land according to the constitution.

"In his interview with Time, Trump acknowledged that Ukraine would likely never be able to join NATO. He cited Kiev’s ambitions to enter the US-led bloc as the issue that “caused the war to start.”
The legal distinctions between de facto and de jure become murky as Russia has determined Ukraine has NATO membership despite Western protestations and denials.
Russia has been compiling the evidence since before the SMO began. NATO soldiers and mercenaries have participated and killed throughout.

Maybe Trump can get Netanyahu to stop the genocide in Gaza too while he tries to stop the killing…!!!!!!!

Trump:
"There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn't want to stop the war, he's just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!" the president wrote.
But if the US does the same in Yemen? And need I mention what Israel is doing in Gaza with US provided weapons?
Tell Putin to stop after Zelenskyy assassinates a Russian general in Moscow? What’s he smoking, snorting, shooting, swallowing…..?
