US Launches Dozens More Airstrikes on Yemen, Killing at Least One Civilian

The Houthis announced more attacks on US warships and fired a ballistic missile at Israel

The US launched dozens more airstrikes on Yemen on Sunday as the Houthis claimed more attacks on US warships and fired another missile at Israel.

Yemen’s Health Ministry said US airstrikes north of the Yemeni capital of Sanaa killed one civilian and wounded four others. At least 13 US airstrikes were reported in the Sanaa province on Sunday night.

US airstrikes pounded other areas of Yemen on Sunday, including the northern Saada province. According to reports from Yemen’s SABA news agency, Saada was hit with at least 11 US airstrikes in the morning.

The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have shown no sign of backing down in the face of the US bombing campaign, which began on March 15. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree reaffirmed Sunday that Yemeni military operations will continue until “the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted.”

Saree said on Sunday that Yemeni forces engaged with US warships led by the aircraft carrier USS Harry Truman three times over the previous 24-hour period. “The confrontation and engagement operation was carried out by the missile force, the unmanned air force, and the naval forces, using a number of cruise missiles and drones,” Saree said.

The US has stayed quiet about the Houthi attacks on its warships in the region. So far, there’s been no sign that Houthi missiles or drones have struck any US Navy assets.

Saree also announced a missile attack on Israel that he said targeted the Ben Gurion International Airport. The Israeli military said a ballistic missile fired from Yemen was intercepted by Israeli air defenses.

“Through this operation, the Yemeni Armed Forces confirm the failure of the American aggression to prevent Yemen from continuing its support operations for the oppressed Palestinian people,” Saree said.

“The dozens of daily raids will not deter the Armed Forces of fulfilling their religious, moral, and humanitarian duties,” Saree added.

President Trump has claimed that his daily bombing campaign in Yemen has been a “success” despite the frequent Houthi attacks. He also vowed that the US airstrikes would continue for a “long time.”
