Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a warning to Iran on Monday, saying regime change will happen in the country “a lot sooner than people think.”
Netanyahu made the threat in a video he posted on X that he said was a message to the Iranian people.
“When Iran is finally free, and that moment will come a lot sooner than people think — everything will be different,” he said in English. “Our two ancient peoples, the Jewish people and the Persian people, will finally be at peace. Our two countries, Israel and Iran, will be at peace.”
Netanyahu said that Iran’s “puppets” were being eliminated and warned that there’s “nowhere in the Middle East” that Israel cannot reach. “With every passing moment, the regime is bringing you — the noble Persian people — closer to the abyss,” he said.
The warning from Netanyahu comes amid soaring tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s dramatic escalation in Lebanon, which has killed over 1,000 people since September 23, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and many Lebanese civilians.
A senior member of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed alongside Nasrallah, and Tehran has vowed that it would respond. Netanyahu seems eager to expand the conflict in the Middle East, and the US is deploying more troops and other military assets for the purpose of defending Israel if the situation escalates.
