Israeli Drone Strike on Car Kills Two Hezbollah Members in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah confirms killing of its members, launches drones at northern Israel

Israel carried out a drone strike in Baraachit on Tuesday, in southern Lebanon, killing two members of Hezbollah that Israeli officials identified as members of Hezbollah’s “Southern Front” unit.

Hezbollah confirmed the incident, saying the drone hit a car traveling between Baraachit and Beit Yahoun. The two killed were from Baraachit and Bint Jbeil, which are both in southern Lebanon.

This brings the total number of deaths of Hezbollah members in Israeli strikes to 408 since October.

Hezbollah earlier in the day launched at least two drones against northern Israel. Both drones were intercepted, one over Kiryat Shmona, and the other while still inside Lebanese territory.

Israel reported carrying out two further airstrikes against “rocket launchers” in the areas of At Tiri and Zirqin, in southern Lebanon. Israeli tanks also shelled an observation post near Mount Dov.

Amos Hochstein, special US envoy, is visiting Israel and Lebanon today on what is being described as a last-minute attempt to prevent a regional war that Israeli officials have talked up for weeks now, and which they suggest is not only inevitable but imminent.

The visit also comes amid expectation that Hezbollah will retaliate soon for the assassination of Fuad Shukr, who was killed at the end of July in an Israeli attack on Beirut.
