The New York Times reported on Wednesday that US intelligence shows Iranian leaders were surprised by the Hamas attack on southern Israel and that no evidence has been found indicating Iran helped plan the operation.
The report reads: “These key Iranian officials did not know the attack was coming, according to the intelligence. The United States, Israel and key regional allies have not found evidence that Iran directly helped plan the attack, according to the US officials and another official in the Middle East.”
The officials who spoke with the Times would not name which Iranian leaders they were talking about but said they are people who would typically be aware of operations involving Iran’s Quds Force, a branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that specializes in unconventional warfare, which includes working with foreign forces.
The report said that Morgan Muir, a deputy Director of National Intelligence, told Congress in a briefing on Tuesday that there was no direct link between Iran and the Hamas attack. He also said US intelligence agencies had evidence contradicting assertions that Iran had helped plan the attack.
On Sunday, The Wall Street Journal published a report claiming that Iran helped plan the operation and gave Hamas the green light for the attack during a meeting in Beirut last week. But the Times report said that the US and its allies “track and monitor meetings between Quds Force leaders and their proxies and allies, including Hamas” and that “officials say there is no evidence that those meetings were used to plan the attack in Israel.”
After The Wall Street Journal report was published, the Israeli military said it had “no evidence or proof” of Iranian involvement in the Hamas attack. Both US and Israeli officials have left open the possibility that Iran was linked to the operation and that they have discovered the evidence yet. The fact that they’re not blaming the attack on Iran signals the US and Israel don’t want to escalate the situation into a wider war, at least while they’re focusing on destroying Gaza.
Bullsh!t.
Sure they were. Are these the same intelligence people who signed a letter saying Hunter Biden’s laptop was Russian disinformation?
But our intelligence agencies saying the opposite of what the hawks want to hear makes their assessment more believable.
Yes, yes, they must focus on destroying Gaza. After all, it’s what racist bigots do.
First Gaza, then the occupied territories.. It’s all going to plan.
Same thing Russia is doing in Ukraine and you don’t have a problem with it.
Nothing BUT nothing like the liberation of Donetsk

All of this talk is meaningless sorry to say. Israel wanted to do this for a long time. To say that they were surprised is a lie and surprising. you can not tell me that the greatest intelligence agency on the planet did not know this was coming.Mossad must be slipping.Fat chance
But Hezbollah doesn’t need Iran permission to attack Israel…! If Gaza invasion occurs they would attack from north…!
The Repugninants immediately claimed the $6B was “a smoking gun,” regardless of it being Iran’s money legally and not likely to have ever helped Hamas. They were using lawn mowers as helicopters for God’s sake! Biden probably was worried he could be vulnerable on this issue. So, why not issue a US intelligence report? Biden can issue another report to the contrary tomorrow if politically helpful, exactly like he did with the Chinese “Spy” Balloon. I myself just issued an intelligence report, blaming the above drivel on my coffee.
Destroy Gaza they will. Voltaire: “the strong do as they may, the weak suffer as they must” So it goes………….

“It’s called PALESTINE, motherfuckers!”

I don’t believe it for a minute
“The United States, Israel and key regional allies have not found evidence that Iran directly helped plan the attack, according to the US officials and another official in the Middle East”
Whoa, those are your own people. And what happened to “gOD bless America”? Are they only trustworthy when they’re calling for the leveling of Gaza? You are despicable.
How about this? It’s just a feeling I have.
It’s unlikely that Hamas, which is entirely dependent on Iran for weaponry, training and funding of their war machine would carry out such an operation without informing them. Actual “evidence” may come when a high ranking Hamas official is properly interrogated.
And Mossad agrees with the US spooks why? Israel has been wanting war with Iran for 40 years. And by properly interrogated you mean torture until they say what you want to hear.
“”Hamas, which is entirely dependent on Iran for weaponry””
please. all eyes are always on Iran. they wouldn’t get away with supplying arms to Hamas for even a new york minute.
Iranians don’t even speak the same language as Arabs do. in fact for much of their existence they have been mortal enemies. but i think that at some point in probably the near future, uncle sam and uncle israeli will finally try to do away with them (Iran).
While I don’t particularly support military conflicts, Iran’s conduct during the terrorism and attempted genocide conducted by its proxies, all of which are trained, armed and funded directly by it, as well as going as far as to publicly “congratulate” Hamas for its actions, makes a particularly compelling case for viewing the scenario you allude to in such a negative light as being a positive outcome for both the region and the world.
“The United States, Israel and key regional allies have not found evidence that Iran directly helped plan the attack, according to the US officials and another official in the Middle East”
You mean like providing intelligence as to where to use the munitions you are providing? Isn’t that what the US calls indirectly?
The Pentagon doesn’t want war with Iran right now, so they make stuff up (as usual).
Israel does. Why would their intelligence agree with the US’ intelligence assessments?
Yes, they have long said that real men go to Iran. But Iran wasn’t beaten by Iraq with US support, and it’s much stronger now with the new reality — missiles siting quietly in silos and caves just waiting for a hostile move by Israel and/or US. Iran would also have Hezbollah support, with tens of thousands of missiles. The US won’t attack and Israel would be history if it did.
That’s why it hasn’t been done before, with even Trump backing down in the drone affair.
Blaming Iran is a muscle reflex in Israel.
That WSJ article itself says they have no proof. It was the most pathetic work of propaganda ever. Almost as if done on purpose.
“We know that Egypt had warned the Israelis three days prior that an event like this could happen,” McCaul, a Republican from Texas, said. “We know that this has been planned, perhaps as long as a year ago.”
This isn’t Israel’s 9/11… It’s their December 7th.
Like the attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR knew it was going to take place and allowed it to happen as a pretext to enter WW2. What he hadn’t counted on was the enormity of the attack.
Likewise Netanyahu knew ( he had to ) of the planned attack and allowed it to bolster his sagging popularity and stop the internal conflict within the Zionist population.. And like FDR he hadn’t counted on the prowess of the enemy.
He’ll play it for all it’s worth politically but it won’t change the facts on the ground no matter how much rubble he creates and Gazans he kills. The World continues to go against him and his sordid, corrupt regime.
FREE FREE PALESTINE!
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, angry at the audacity of a Sky News reporter who dared think of the Palestinian women and children killed:
“Are you seriously keep on asking me about Palestinian civilians? What is wrong with you?”
“We’re fighting Nazis!” Bennett claimed. “I’m not going to feed electricity or water to my enemies!”
So you see, it’s fine to commit mass murder of Palestinians by cutting off their water, because they’re “nazis” and Naftali’s enemies.
Always “nazis” and “the Holocaust” whenever they attack someone. Antony Blinken also immediately evoked “the Holocaust” in his speech in Israel, as he pledged to agree to whatever Israel – or more specifically AIPAC – demands of the servants in Washington.
I do not trust liars ( the media or who they talk to) but there are not Iranian drones flying in (like Russia is using) which i kind of think there’d be a bunch of if Iran was part of this.
Also they will never say all those deaths of kids and women were wrong but I can not see Iran to ever be part of that.
But as the wife tells me all the ⏲️ im rarely right about much and she isnt political at all.
Just smart.
Ah, but they’ll keep looking for that evidence. They’ll find it somewhere, you know they will.
The money had been in South Korea, and banks were reluctant to transfer it for fear of running afoul of sanctions. Under the deal, the money was transferred to Doha, Qatar, where it can be used by Iran for certain approved purchases.
Iran and Qatar have a close economic relationship which affects their diplomatic relations, particularly in the oil and gas industries. Iran and Qatar jointly control the world’s largest natural gas field along their maritime border. Qatar has 13% of the world’s total proven gas reserves.
So they’ll work it out, and what would the US know.
Qatar’s relationship with the US is at least as close as its relationship with Iran. Among other things, there are lots of US troops there — it hosts the forward operating base of the US Central command.
I very much doubt that Qatar would risk serious damage to its relationship with the US by violating this agreement. And it probably couldn’t be done without the US knowing/finding out.
Who is Ismail Haniyeh?
He is Senior Hamas leader who leads a lavish lifestyle in Qatar . .here
Yes. What’s your point?
Just enjoy extrapolating on the close relationship between the US and Qatar, home of the Hamas chief hated by the US.
