Ukraine Military Intel Chief: ‘We Will Keep Killing Russians’ Anywhere in the World

Maj. Gen. Budanov made the comments when asked about the killing of Darya Dugina

The head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, known as the HUR, told Yahoo News in an interview published Friday that “we will keep killing Russians” anywhere in the world.

Maj. Gen. Kyrlo Budanov made the provocative statement when asked about the August 2022 car bombing outside of Moscow that killed Darya Dugina, the daughter of the prominent Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin.

“Don’t continue with that topic. All I will comment on is that we’ve been killing Russians and we will keep killing Russians anywhere on the face of this world until the complete victory of Ukraine,” Budanov said.

The HUR does not officially take credit for Dugina’s killing or other attacks inside Russia, but Budanov and other officials strongly hint at their responsibility. US officials told The New York Times that they believe the Ukrainian government was behind the Dugina slaying but didn’t mention the HUR specifically.

The Kremlin on Monday responded to Budanov’s comments. “This is a truly monstrous statement. This statement, and what Mr. Budanov said, is a direct confirmation that the Kiev regime is not just sponsoring terrorist activity, but is an immediate organizer of this activity,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Over the weekend, another prominent Russian was targeted in a car bombing inside Russia. Zakhar Prilepin, a novelist and ardent proponent of Russia’s war in Ukraine, survived the attack, but his driver was killed. Budanov was interviewed by Yahoo on April 24, about two weeks before the attempt on Prilepin.
