Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) called for the US to start shooting down Russian planes that encounter US aircraft in response to the downing of the MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Black Sea.
Graham told Fox News host Sean Hannity that the US should tell Russia if “you ever get near another US asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down.”
“What would Ronald Reagan do right now? He would start shooting Russian planes down if they were threatening our assets. American foreign policy is in freefall,” Graham added.
The Russian military said the US drone was intercepted near Crimea in airspace Moscow restricted, while the US insists it was on a “routine” surveillance flight conducted in international airspace.
The incident risks a major escalation between the US and Russia. Graham claimed if President Biden doesn’t take more action, World War III could break. But if the president takes Graham’s advice and starts shooting down Russian aircraft, it would kick off a direct war between NATO and Russia.
Graham’s rhetoric throughout the war has been extremely hawkish as he called for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin several times. In December 2022, Graham said the war in Ukraine will only end if Russia is broken and Putin is “taken out.”
I want to watch Lindsey the clown melt down after Russians bomb Pentagon terrorists in Syria or sink one of them aircraft carriers. He sounds completely pathetic without his boyfriend, Johnny McLame.
Operator of the U.S. drone, probably from somewhere in Arizona, flies the drone in front of a Russia fighter, causing the Russian aircraft to come in contact with the props of the drone. There is no way the pilot intentionally rammed the drone, at the risk of bringing his aircraft down, and perhaps getting killed in the process. Lindsey is a f*cking moron if he equates this with an intentional act against an American asset. (I am sorry if I offended any morons)
We don’t know whether was the drone rammed or not. Russians say it wasn’t rammed. Was it intentional? Yes, it was. Was it risky? Depends on the skills of the pilot. Higher skills, less risk.

There are many people with such a mindset in US and UK. It is not much different from German Nazism where people were absolutely convinced in their own superiority. With such people at the top of the state, the catastrophe is unavoidable. Only military defeat can bring them to senses.

Tucker in his “Zelensky is demanding you send your kids to war” explained to us recently that the vast majority of Americans don’t support the hawks. In a democratic country, it would mean that the hawks have no chance to win the elections but we know how it works in USA. So the situation is uncertain.

Lyndsey Graham is certifiably insane. For his plan to even work, US fighter aircraft would have to escort these drones over the Black Sea and their approach would be known by the Russians long before they came anywhere near Crimea – I guess he fails to realize that if we send two escort aircraft the Russians, with much closer bases, will intercept with 4; or if we send 4 the Russians will intercept with 8; this is a no-win escalation that goes nowhere.
And – for the record – given our history of lying through our teeth about virtually everything, I do NOT believe the drone was in “international waters”, or was doing anything “routine”, and I think the Russians were right to down it. Just like the “routine patrol aircraft” that the Chinese brought down off Hainan a few years ago, or the U2 shot down over Cuba, or the U2 shot down over Russia, or the USS Vincennes encroaching on Iranian territorial waters and downing a civil airliner, or the long litany of “righteous strikes” that kill children, goats, wedding parties, and funeral processions; I’m not buying it.

But, sadly, if you’re voting for Lindsey you’re probably getting your history from Ecclesiastes. He knows he can bark whatever he wants to his base.
According to Seymour Hersh the US has started planning for war against Russia. The 82nd and 101st Brigades are preparing for deployment to Ukraine.
The US has accepted that NATO is being defeated and they need US boots on the ground.
Russia has also prepared for this eventuality hence the war of attrition and most of the reserves held in the rear.

A large fast moving plane near a smaller, slower plane creates vortex forces that wreck control and are difficult to recover from.
This is why for example the landing of “heavy” aircraft at a civilian airport is controlled to avoid light planes running into that vortex.
Add in very high speeds, and the vortex forces become things like sonic booms, or near it, walls of air.
A heavy fighter like an Su-27 at ~50,000 lbs and very high speed right in front of a Reaper MQ-9 at 10,000 lbs with a light straight wing and never exceed speed of ~300 mph, a slow running prop that stays well subsonic even at the tips? That is an accident that does not require physical contact.
Besides, he dropped fuel upon him.
Maybe engine ingestion of the dumped fuel caused on engine overspeed and prop tip failure. Those tips are actually pushing transonic. The Su-27 pilot was dumping fuel for a reason. Maybe it was just to get the drone operator’s attention, but maybe he had more in mind. It’s instructive he didn’t just blow the thing out of the air, which he certainly could have with a lot less effort. They definitely don’t want escalation.
They also wanted to capture the drone as undamaged as possible.
Yeah, and something I haven’t read anybody noticing is that the MQ-9 can actually carry Sidewinders, in which case if the Russians didn’t go in shooting it suggests they at least wanted it in as few pieces as possible because they took a risk messing around with it.
Probably it wasn’t armed. But it had on board a very sophisticated and expensive spy equipment.
They key word here is “probably”, as in probably won’t have a missile come up your exhaust. It’ll be interesting to see if the Russians get any video out of the thing but I expect it has a data destruct mode.
Unfortunately Russians will shoot back. Does this walking “clear and present danger” realise the danger he is putting US pilots under? If Russia thinks that US fighters will attempt to shoot down Russian fighters…….then any Russian will immediately kill a NATO fighter on sight.
The only thing Sen. Graham will achieve is dead American pilots. However downing US drones saves lives.
