Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) visited Kyiv with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Thursday and said he hopes to see a “hand-to-hand insurgency” in territory Russia has captured since it invaded Ukraine.
“Long-range artillery is very, very important. But so is the hand-to-hand insurgency that we are hoping to see in eastern Ukraine, in the territory that’s already been occupied by the Russians,” Blumenthal said.
Both Blumenthal and Graham voiced support for an insurgency in eastern Ukraine in the latest sign that the US plans to support Ukraine in its war against Russia for years to come. But the main purpose of the visit was to discuss a plan to designate Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism” with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Currently, only Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Cuba are designated as state sponsors of terror. Cuba’s designation was lifted by President Obama, but the Trump administration put Havanna back on the list as one of its last foreign policy moves.
Graham said he believes the designation would have near-unanimous support in the Senate. In May, the two senators introduced a resolution that would call for Secretary of State Antony Blinken to make the designation.
The senators also called for more weapons shipments to Ukraine. Blumental said the US should send HIMARS rocket systems with “longer ranges” than what has been provided, more Harpoon anti-ship missiles, and air defense systems.
Well he ain’t gonna have that but since the zelensky regime and the Nazi’s started to free convicts of the most heinous crimes and hand out guns willy nilly, the crime rate is skyrocketing, especially in Kiev, people killing eachother for no reason at all in the streets.
Thank you for reminding me of that. Really, really stupid move. Those guys are going to take their weapons where ever they please, not necessarily the front.
V, I knew several guys who got into trouble with the law and were given a choice: jail or Vietnam.
We all know how that turned out.
Is there a link for that? Someone challenged me on this and I couldn’t recall where I read it.
The Chilean Gonzalo lira’s twitter account and youtube channel for one. He left Kiev after this fact and went to Kharkov where he is now but the zelensky regime does the same there.
@gonzalolira1968
Thanks Nikki.

#Ukraine: Today Ruslan Onishchenko, the commander of the Neo-Nazi Tornado battalion, was released from prison by the Zelensky regime, alongside thousands of other criminals. Onishchenko was previously condemned to 10 years imprisonment for rape, torture and murder of civilians.

Machine translation:
Convicted of torture, former “Tornado” combatant Onishchenko was released – ex-Deputy of National Affairs
We will remind, in April 2017, the former commander of “Tornado” was sentenced by the Obolon District Court of Kyiv to 11 years of imprisonment on charges of resisting a law enforcement officer, usurping authority, leading to suicide, unnatural rape, kidnapping, illegal deprivation of liberty, and torture. Together with him, seven more of his comrades were sentenced to real prison terms, five soldiers of the battalion received suspended sentences. In 2019, the Kyiv Court of Appeals left the sentence unchanged. The Supreme Court of Ukraine made a similar decision in September 2021 .
In 2015, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine reported that Onishchenko had been convicted five times. According to the department, the ex-commander of “Tornado” is involved in the creation of a criminal group in the city of Privillya, Luhansk region, which engaged in torture and illegal deprivation of liberty of local residents.

And as the fate of the Nazis becomes undeniable, the easily-transportable stingers and javelins will be sold — at a “deep discount”, wink wink — on the black market to finance the Nazi’s escape-into-hiding, and god knows who will buy them and for what use.
Interesting times … to come.
These Clowns 🤡 🤡 are Clueless Imbeciles.
What ignorance — it is scary to thinkntgese people run our country.
Eastern Ukraine, as well as South, will not see insurgency for a simple reason -/ these are predominantly Russian ethnically as well as Russian speaking Ukrainians. They will have tge chance to vote in a referendum and it is pretty sure they want to get back to being part of Russia.
Sure enough, thre will be saboteurs and acts of terrorism organuzed by Nazi state. But even Kuev, if chance were given would prefer tobsee thisvregime gone. Just follow Boris Johnson.
It appeears our politicians are clueless.
They have a clue. It is support war, get money from the MIC. Rinse, repeat. All the while thinking that oceans will continue to protect them.
Even scarier Ukrainians take their direction.
Worse than clueless, Bianca. Blatant merchants of death.
Agreed. This is not stupidity. This is evil.
They’re both stupid AND evil!
Ok, you got me. The math works out. No further debate here.
They have clue. Obey Zionists. Here Zoinist Blumenthal is taking the lead. Follow to perish.
I dunno it seems the real Russians are abusing the ethnic Russians and they don’t like it.
Is that so?
Does this man have any idea about war in general or hand to hand combat in particular? What don’t you go there, senator, and try it for yourself.? You would shit your pants in a minute.
“In Kyiv, Sen. Blumenthal Says He Hopes to See a ‘Hand-to-Hand Insurgency’ in Russian-Occupied Ukraine”
Personally pledges to hold any insurgent Ukrainian’s coat for him.
Excellent remark!
These two ignoramuses have spent too long in the fake world of the USA superiority.
“…so is the hand-to-hand insurgency…” So the US Senators think Ukraine should follow the model of Afghanistan, and, instead of siding with the aggressor, switch to the “easy” side and be insurgents? Let’s see if the Ukrainians listen to this advice.
The US warmongers are talking to themselves. The US/NATO proxy war in Ukraine has produced an inflection point in geopolitical relationships. And the global South, Eurasia, and Asia proper have not bought into the US/EU sanction diplomacy. This is 80% of the world’s population and 75% of what should be considered real GDP. Watch what happens when the global South repudiates the odious debt the west has put them under. Buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
It’s all fun and games till Russia cuts the gas to Europe off completely this winter. Let’s see what countries erupts into an insurgency then.
I read that Macron is being exhorted to not give Russia turbines needed to provide gas to Germany. I am sure Germany appreciates that.
Did you mean to say Trudeau instead of Macron?
Yes, the turbines are/were being repaired in Canada.
There are so many ironies drifting about amidst the flotsam of the degenerate empire. Here’s one:
The Nordstream compressor sent to Canada for rebuild is held hostage due to the sanctions. Meanwhile, Nordstream 2, ready to go with a full complement of the latest modern brand-spanking shiny new compressors, sits idle.
Germany, the richest, most powerful, most dynamic nation in Europe is voluntarily(?) bending over to receive the Ghadaffy treatment. !!!???
No worries. The Germans can clear-cut the Black Forest for firewood 😉
They are suggesting that the Ukrainian armed forces bombard Ukrainian land.
Killing Ukraine citizens. Perfect /s
Give me hand-to-hand insurgency! How dare you refuse to die for me?! If I were Ukrainian, just one glance at these two slimy warmongering imbeciles would make me nauseous. Actually, it doesn’t matter if I’m Ukrainian, they still make me nauseous. Together with Nuland, they make great villains for the Devil’s Advocate 2.
That cow is **&&^^%% (Cannot say it here)
There is that famous clip in which late McCain and Graham are inciting Ukrainian to go fight Russia. Ukraine was set up from the get go and they have mostly young and immature leaders who actually believe that US is their friend.
Correct. Zelensky still has his baby fat.
“Long-range artillery is very, very important” gives away bloomin-thal’s game on behalf of a very particular US military hardware manufacturer.
So someone actively pushing and cheering for an insurgency, with the resulting death, terror, and reprisals that would follow, wants to have someone ELSE declared a “sponsor of terrorism”. Oh the Irony. These idiots make me ashamed of my country.
George W Bush:
“The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,” said Bush, before catching himself and shaking his head. “I mean — of Ukraine.”
Realizing his mistake, Bush then appeared to say under his breath, “Iraq, too.”
An ex-president has admitted that his invasion of Iraq was on par with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And since only one country’s invasion was “wholly unjustified” that would mean Graham and Blumenthal should be asking that their own country be added to that list and not Russia.
Yeah. Bush’s Freudian slip was hilarious. But it’s chilling that the USA keeps on getting people of his caliber as POTUS. It shows that the only real litmus test for the office is obedience to the establishment, the donor class and the DC warmongers…
Some thought that hand-to-hand combat in Lysychansk would protract the war. That idea literally went up in smoke when Russia brought out its flamethrowers. Blumenthal is a danger to himself and others.
Not going to happen. Ukraine is not a tribal society like Iraq and Afghanistan where the population is born with AK-47’s in their cribs.
And receive RPG launchers for their first birthdays 😉
I think Blumenthal and Ms. Linsey will make excellent urban guerrillas. They should head to Donetsk (city) immediately and start teaching those DPR militia forces a lesson.
USA! USA! Slava Ukraini!
It is impossible to fathom the utter stupidity of these clowns; however these psychopaths do not ever suffer embarrassment as they hold their hand out for bribes (Um, contributions) from the war profiteers.
I beg to differ. They are definitely not stupid clowns. They are evil clowns–pure evil. Or to use your term, psychopathic clowns.
It is truly bizarre. You would have to be so credibly ill-educated and uninformed to say this that it beggars belief. They have no idea whatsoever of the demographics of the country they are talking about. Do they even know where it is?
We are living in a postscript to the Age of Lies: the Twilight of Clowns.
OOOOOOOOOO. That’s catchy Twilight of Clowns.
12
Clowns Daemmerung.
Advocating for more death and destruction in Ukraine. Democrat and Republicans are two sides of the same coin called kleptopcrats.
Christ, is there no end to these NeoCon Dorks & Weenies?
What Blumenthal really wants is hot, steamy mouth-to-anus action — you know, the kind that gets him re-elected time and time again back home in the Nutsack State.
Before these Boomers retire, I suspect they want to leave the world the same way it was when they were born. In tatters.
Missiles , Bombs ect ect ect don`t win wars INFANTRY wins wars and Ukraine dosen`t have the man power or the will to fight , Brit soldiers training Ukrainians is a joke we saw how effective British Soldiers where in Afghanistan , infact the whole of NATO was left wanting , i mean lets face it the Taliban didn`t do so bad for a bunch of half assed .mountian boy`s
On battlefields like Ukraine, outside the cities, artillery wins wars. And the collective West cannot possibly supply sufficient artillery and training for Ukrainian troops to overcome Russia’s enormous advantage in artillery.
If modern Russian artillery is anything like Soviet artillery, yes, they have an enormous advantage.
The west seems to have out-thought itself (or, more likely, just wanted to throw money at arms manufacturers) with too much concentration on the tech and not enough on building guns that will take a licking and keep on ticking. The Soviet stuff I saw in Kuwait in 1991 was surrounded by damage to everything else, but still ready to fire if the crews hadn’t abandoned it or been killed.
Yup, your Kuwait experience illustrates an important difference between the US/NATO/clients approach to arms and that of the Soviets and now Russia. “Over there,” the arms manufacturers aren’t running the show.
The AF lawyer and the fake war hero visit Kiev.
Turning Ukraine into Afghanistan for Russia was always the US dream.
Being like Afghanistan is a nightmare for Ukraine, absolute destruction. But our neocons would be pleased.
As Kissinger said a long time ago, “it may be dangerous to be America’s enemy, but to be America’s friend is fatal.”
That is what the idea of “insurgency” really means.
Meanwhile our NATO allies are learning the same thing, as we destroy their economies in hopes (failed so far) of harming Russia.
And our own economy as well, Mark.
I want these warmongers to live on minimum wage for one month, purchase ( or attempt to) buy their own groceries, gas, meds, and pay their rent and utilities.
They’d all be living in cardboard boxes, which would suit me just fine.
it’s the United States that is the world’s greatest state sponsor of terrorism. Psychopaths like Bluementhal and Graham are all the evidence needed that US leadership is hell bent on destroying the world.
Two Kleptocrats proving that Americans have no choice in voting as both Democrats and Republicans are stealing from America at every turn.
“Sen. Blumenthal Says He Hopes to See a ‘Hand-to-Hand Insurgency’”
like in afghanistan and iraq ?
Is the good Senator planning on personally joining this ‘hand-to-hand insurgency’ and getting his own hands bloody? No? That’s what I thought.
These 2 senators are advocating a terror group be funded and trained. hmmm – might that just be grounds for indictment at the forthcoming international war crimes tribunal ?
Unless the US is enormously weakened. Including militarily, by the time of that tribunal, indictments would have no meaningful impact. Our great and noble leaders don’t recognize the jurisdiction of courts we don’t control.
Really ? Maybe ask Bush et.al. why they don’t travel outside US borders anymore
Maybe you should tell us what court or tribunal, with competent jurisdiction, you think is interested in proceeding against Bush or any other senior US official, current or former. Be specific and include citations.
https://wearechange.org/bush-cancels-europe-trip-amid-calls-for-his-arrest/
Ditto for many other unindicted Washington War Criminals. And Red, if you are ex-military; you should be aware that war crimes have zero statute of limitations. Eventually everyone gets hauled before the courts.
For example – this year in Germany a 95 year old gal whose crime was working as a 18 year old civilian in a typing pool in a work camp 77 years ago is facing a life sentence for war crimes.
Here is the Chinese MFA view on the topic. Red – get with the program. It’s over.

So, your citation is not to a court or any other official tribunal, nor is it to a statement or document issued by a prosecutor, or other official with relevant authority. Not persuasive.
I suggest researching the “American Service-Members Protection Act” and reviewing the US response, a couple of years ago, to ICC officials suggesting that an investigation might include the actions of US personnel in Afghanistan.
The US has made it clear to the world that it will not permit international or foreign tribunals to exercise jurisdiction over US officials or troops. And no government or international entity not wanting to court disaster is likely to even try.
That could, and should, change, but it’s the current reality.
You do realize that NATO’s military collapse is happening right before your very eyes. The constellation of forces has already changed big time.
Remarkable how members of the world’s most losing military (76 years perfect record) remain arrogant as you.
Since you sound like a typical .gov .mil lifer, I’d be ready to plan a hideaway somewhere far away in the Rockies where the long reach of the law won’t find you. You’ll need to be prepared to hide out for decades like that German gal typist.
