Israel Attacks Syria Army Base in Damascus, Killing Three

Syria intercepts some of the incoming missiles

On Friday, Israel carried out missile strikes against neighboring Syria, firing against the southern part of Damascus. The attacks killed at least three people.

Details are still emerging on the attacks, which Israeli media are presented as targeting Iranian militias though it apparently hit a Syrian army base.

Syria’s air defense system was activated during the attack, and intercepted “a number” of Israeli missiles fired at Damascus. This was the second attack of the past week.

There was no indication this time of Russia firing any air defense systems during the attack. The Russians fired S-300 missiles during the previous attack, raising speculation that their policy may be changing.
