On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned that if a third world war breaks out, it will be “a devastating nuclear war.”
The warning from Lavrov came as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continued for the seventh day. On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Russia’s nuclear forces to be put on “special” alert. Announcing his decision, Putin cited sanctions and other threats from NATO countries.
Together, the US and Russia have 90% of the world’s nuclear warheads, and a direct conflict between the two powers could quickly spiral into a nuclear war. President Biden has said repeatedly that he won’t send troops into Ukraine to fight Russia, but at the same time, the US and NATO are pouring weapons into Ukraine and are working to crush Russia’s economy.
The Western arms shipments risk sparking a conflict with Russia since it’s possible Moscow could target the deliveries. The US and NATO are also bolstering their forces in Eastern Europe, putting troops near the borders of Russia and Ukraine, making a miscalculation more likely.
Ukrainian officials continue to call for the US to impose a “no-fly zone” over Ukraine even though the White House has already ruled out the idea. Enforcing a no-fly zone would mean US planes would have to shoot down Russian ones and target Russia’s air defenses. But at this point, only the most rabid hawks in Washington are in favor of the no-fly zone.
I didn’t look it up but I’ve heard that Ukraines independence was a gift from mother Russia, quite possibly the only country in the world that was gifted by another. So how does Ukraine treat it’s generous benefactor, it joins up with those sworn enemies of Russia that are doing their best to destroy her.A pack of wolves.

Well, technically, if Russia had not called “quit” on the USSR it would not have dissolved. But they never got any thanks for that from the mouthpieces of Empire. The thanks they got was to be pursued eastward for 30 years by this Empire, which like a metastatic cancer, will only expand until stopped by active surgical, chemical, or radiation means. This war is not war between Russia and Ukraine but a war between Russia and the first proxy probe of the Washington-centered Empire.

Russia Ministry of Information is telling schools they must teach that this war is the “liberation of Ukraine,” and Duma has proposed a law that says anyone spreading “false news about the war” can be locked up for 15 years.

Unless something’s changed in the last 24 hours, US Facebook and Twitter haven’t “banned” RT and Sputnik, but do seem to be placing “state media” content warnings on them.

Trust me, I have much worse plans and I won’t wait for WWIII to implement them. Pre-emptive strike is the rule – as Putin knows, which is why he struck now.
By the way, speaking of that, there is an article going around from a German blog which says that there is evidence that Ukraine was going to use some sort of biological weapon sprayed from planes on the republics in eastern Donbass (and maybe Russia itself.) I haven’t read it yet, although I have it, and I have no idea if it’s true. But if it is, that could be one reason Putin moved when he did.
The LDR also says they interrogated some captured Ukrainians and they claim that the Ukrainians did have an order from Zelensky to start a new offensive on Donbass. The Russian Duma says the Russian GRU was tracking the plans, and that’s why Russia preempted the offensive. No idea if that’s true, either.

Russia will not target the Polish airfields that host Ukrainian jets that are doing “fly-bys” into Ukraine. Russia is not dumb enough to fall into that trap. They currently apparently don’t care enough to interdict the delivery of the weapons into Ukraine, but they certainly have the capability to do so if it becomes a problem. None of the efforts NATO is doing will have the slightest effect on the overall outcome of the conflict.

I’m pissed off. Why should I sympathize with Ukraine when no one sympathized with Iraqis? One thing that really slayed me was the press boasting about how Iraqi children were sometimes brought to Amerikkka for corrective surgery. Gee, guess WHY they needed surgery. Didn’t have anything to do with us bombing their country into oblivion, did it?
Did we sympathize with the Afghans? The Libyans? No, Hitlery Clinton actually gloated.
