At Least 156 Houthis Killed in North Yemen Fighting

Airstrikes, ground fighting center around Harad

Heavy fighting in northern Yemen’s Hajjah Province once again raged over the weekend, with clashes in and around Harad leaving at least 156 Houthis killed, along with over 60 soldiers.

Fighting has been ongoing in this area along the Yemen-Saudi border lately, with a lot of casualties, but like so many places in Yemen’s war with limited territory changing hands.

The tolls are from two days of fighting on the ground, and heavy airstrikes. Nine soldiers were also reported killed in a landmine explosion in Saada. Five more were killed in missile fire in the far south.

Recent fighting has been over Harad, Maarib, and Taiz. None of these look to be resolved any time soon, leaving open the question of what might get the two sides to diplomacy.
