Israel Attacks Syrian Army Base Near Damascus

Damage reported in base, nearby town of Zakiya

by | Feb 16, 2022

On Wednesday night, Israel carried out a series of missile attacks against a Syrian Army base south of Damascus. Missiles were fired from the occupied Golan Heights.

Speculatively, Israeli media are saying Iranian troops might sometimes use that base. Israel, as usual, isn’t commenting on why they’re attacking Syria, however.

Indications are that the base sustained damage, and some damage was done in the town of Zakiya. There have been no reports of any casualties.

Interestingly, there was no report of Syrian air defenses being activated either. Usually Syria emphasizes the ability to intercept the missiles, but in this case they don’t appear to have bothered.
