On Thursday, Russia said it has “deep” concerns over Israel’s ongoing air campaign in Syria, warning the continued airstrikes could escalate tensions in the region and threaten civilian air traffic.
“Israel’s continuing strikes against targets inside Syria cause deep concern,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said. “They are a crude violation of Syria’s sovereignty and may trigger a sharp escalation of tensions. Also, such actions pose serious risks to international passenger flights.”
She said Russia opposes “attempts to turn Syria into a scene of armed confrontation between third countries.”
Israel claims its air campaign in Syria is meant to target Iran, but the airstrikes often kill Syrian soldiers. Syrian state media said one soldier was killed and five more were wounded in the latest Israeli attack, which happened Wednesday.
Russia has held talks with Israel on Syria, and in January, Russia said it would begin joint air patrols with Syria. The patrols will include areas near the Golan Heights, a frequent site of Israeli attacks, and Israel is said to be considering slowing the strikes.
“Israel claims its air campaign in Syria is meant to target Iran, but the airstrikes often kill Syrian soldiers.” I would go further and say, “…kill Syrian soldiers fighting ISIS and Al Qaeda.” Also, never underestimate the power of clever wording designed to disguise killings against international law as an “air campaign.” It almost makes it sound as benign as a stroll in the park.
Taliban also fight ISIS. We really do not like those who fight ISIS. Why?

“(W)e’ve assisted (anti-government terrorist groups in Syria on) two conditions. That they don’t get too close to (Israel’s) border, and…don’t touch the Druze.”

Russia should stop the concern talks and show some actions…!
My concern is that if things are not handled with some care, we could have the US and Russia in a face-off and this situation could potentially spiral out of control in terms of warfare…
Russia has maintained a very controlled position, so far, if incidents continue to escalate, we could all find ourselves in a very dangerous predicament…
Some countries only understand the language of force and bullying… US & Israel are the prime examples…! So they must be countered with force & bullying…!

Don’t worry Donna… The threat of nuclear weapons strikes are used for fear and propaganda purposes because both sides know the consequences…! one example would be the past mini wars between Pakistan & India…!

Which means what? That they are accidental killings and were intended for Iranians? Are those Iranians there at the behest of the Syrian government? If so, Israel has no more of a right to target them then they do anyone in Syria without permission from the Syrian government. To quote Ms. Zakharova: “They are a crude violation of Syria’s sovereignty”
Does that mean that Israel has bad aim?…
Israel has No aim whatsoever, rather just to maintain chaos and don’t let it fade away…!

Sometimes it seems like the IDF air force just launches these raids as if to say “Remember last time we did this with impunity? How about another round? Next reminder soon.”
What strategic goals do they accomplish? No one is threatening Israel beyond rhetoric, if that.
Actually since Syria is allied to Iran whatever Israel does to Syria can be interpreted as targeting Iran. It is a way of stating general hostility as something specific, targeted and justified. We treat as sufficient justification when Israel says ‘but we are worried!’ while Russia correctly points out that this is about one side constantly attacking the other against all international laws and that applies even if Syria invites 100000 Iranian soldiers.
