Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday condemning the rocket fire against the Baghdad Airport, saying such acts threaten to destabilize Iraq.
The rockets were fired Friday, damaging a runway and two planes. There were no claims of credit, but the US had suspected Iran-aligned militias.
Iranian officials want to make clear they oppose this, and have a vested interest in the stability of their neighbor. If the attacks were by the militias, it would conflict with what Iran wants.
From the US perspective, this may not matter, as blaming Iran is an end unto itself, even if the reality is that Iran wants calm in the region.
Iraq has a security issue. These must be mercenaries, as no donestic dispputes before caused damage to the country’s critical infrastructure,

Iraq condemned. I did not hear Western value-loaded governments express an outrage over such an act. Well I guess those values do not apply to those outside the club
