China’s new ambassador to the US delivered a speech on Wednesday urging the US to drop its Cold War mentality towards Beijing. Qin Gang’s message to the US is that China is “not the Soviet Union.”
“The Soviet Union’s collapse was its own making. The Communist Party of the Soviet Union had been rigid, corrupt, closed to the outside world, and detached from the people. It had been obsessed with arms race and external aggression. As a result, the country’s development halted,” Qin said at an event hosted by the National Committee on US-China Relations.
One major difference between the Soviet Union and China that Qin pointed out is that the US had little engagement with the Soviets, while Beijing today is Washington’s top trading partner. “Our two countries should not be enemies, but partners. Over 70,000 American companies have investments in China, and these investments pay well,” he said.
A common talking point coming from the Biden administration is that China threatens the so-called “international rules-based order,” which essentially means it is a threat to US global hegemony. China hawks and US military leaders often claim that China seeks to supplant the US as the world’s dominant superpower, but Qin says Beijing is not looking to overtake Washington.
“China never bets its own future on other countries. We only want to surpass ourselves. We never take surpassing the US as our goal, and we never have the ambition to challenge and displace America, or to seek hegemony in the world,” he said.
Qin noted that China’s growth was due largely in part to the robust trade relationship with the US and said US prosperity is good for China. “I believe that both countries can benefit from the development and prosperity of the other side,” he said.
Qin said that the policies of the Trump administration “caused serious damage” to US-China relations and that the situation has not changed under the new administration. President Biden has framed the US-China relationship as an ideological competition and has frequently said the two countries are in a competition to “win the 21st century.”
Besides the rhetoric, Biden has maintained tariffs on Chinese goods, stepped up military activity near China’s coast, sanctioned Chinese officials and companies, and is taking steps to boost ties with Taiwan. These policies appear to have bipartisan support since Biden and Trump have carried them out, and nobody in Washington is speaking out against them. While Qin made a plea for better relations, it appears the US is on a course to further escalate tensions with Beijing.
Jealousy remains the sole factor.. They want their cake and to eat it too, in this case America wants to be able to invade nations at will, write their laws and share in their wealth..while demanding independent countries not privy to American military conquest to not invest in themselves if Americans are not involved in the rewards.
Pure Greed, it demonstrates the folly of mankind as a species, who “dreams” of taken such destructive behavior beyond this planet. You have proof of the self serving “we’re #1” mentality, laid bare in recorded media and real time stretching from Libya to Iraq showing what the future holds for a “proud and accomplished” mankind
idealized flying cars and world peace of the 1950s after Hitler’s plan for world dominion, gave way to the same basic primitive murderous thinking in every sector of govt & civilian alike. Regime change became fashionable, one was even dubbed a “smart war” because they outsourced the ground killing and stayed in the air.
It’s even worse lately as in what was done in Libya in Syria. Just smash & grab operations with no thought of the damage victims, not to mention the letter agency drug op in Afghan. How to explain when a country goes rogue and starts ripping off & killing anyone not flying their skull & crossbones flag. It posses a threat to all but cocktail roaches on this planet. Thank God that there are some in China who reject the freebooting ways as immoral speaking out who are in high places. Wère the architects of the Libya war like Hillary proud or ashamed when the auctions of kidnapped women and children were being sold as slaves in auctions? Do they really think that Libyans are now better off free of Gadaffi”s well organized & prosperous socialist entity in their new freebooting free to starve enterprise slave state of anything goes, war & anarchy….?????
The difference between the ruling parties of China and USSR is that Chinese communists were ethnic Chinese and patriots of their country. They stopped the civil war and concentrated on the fight against the foreign enemy. While Bolshevik party was ethnically not Russian and helped the enemy against Russian army. The proclaimed goal of Bolshevik party in 1915 was – let’s convert the imperialistic war into the civil war.
‘Were’ being the operative word. Europe First never gave up trying to conquer the world.

China seems now being groomed as the economic dumb giant of Europe First, where America was once both the military and economic dumb giant after WWII.
The U.S. middle class has been cut off from China by the trade war, but a self-selected few will continue to prosper over other Americans from exclusive access to trade with China.
What characterizes a non-ethnic Russian? Birthplace? Religion? Profession? Habits? Food? Beverages? Loyalty?
1915? What happened in 1915? The Zimmerwald conference which was attended by Vladimir Lenin. The Zimmerwald conference called for an end of the war and demanded a post-war (Western) world along the lines of what eventually became the League of Nations. There was no demand for civil wars.
The Bolshevik party of 1915 had almost no power in Russia and its aim was a Marxian revolution. That the revolution might evolve into a civil war was never ruled out but was not a primary objective. In fact the civil war that did break out after the November revolution was bad for Lenin’s government which was deeply engaged in ending the war with Germany.
China isn’t Soviet Union, they are much worse. They are beating U.S. in the head with their own dollar club, while at the same time elevating their own by setting up shops in every part of the plant. This includes the Africa states that both U.S. U.K. we’re keeping down with coups and arms sells.
So shopping is bad now?
You’re sort of correct.
The real threat of China, is that they have aligned themselves with Europe First, empowering European oligarchs and their campaign to subdue America and genuine Western values of freedom with responsibility.
China pioneered their QR code social credit surveillance system not on their own but with the help of Western tech advisors.
Indigenous champions are threats to foreign oligarchs, so Chinese tycoons like Jack Ma, are being put down. Hong Kong tycoons, were led to rebel against the Chinese State, and so became disenfranchised politically, but also economically as Hong Kong imploded.
China is the France of the late 1920’s. How so?
In the late 1920’s world trade was regulated with the gold standard. Hoarding of gold was a principal weakness of that system. France’s government hoarded gold which contributed to the 1932 crash.
Today world trade is regulated by the US dollar. China’s power is that its government is the largest holder of US dollars.
I didn’t say anything to Analyzer about 1920’s France or China being like 1920’s France.
However 2020’s France is one of the first Western democracies to attempt imposition of a Chinese QR code social credit system, which is itself more invented by Westerners than Chinese.
CCP China seems too easy a pawn for Western mass social experiments. They also adopted self-inflicted genocide with Malthusian one-child per family birth control, and are now feeling the effects of uneven population aging, gender imbalance, and decline in the Han majority.
The digital surveillance system pioneered and tested by Western tech at the convenience of the Chinese CCP is clearly being implemented by Western countries under the pretext of COVID-19(84).
The 1930s saw the most insiderist connected crony capitalists of the era try and shelter from the economic downcycle under autocratic regimes. Hoarding gold was likely more symptom than cause, because fiat money is backed by goods and services, not gold training wheels.
When fiat money was tied to and tied up into gold, and gold is limited in supply, that would be destabilizing to the velocity of money since fiat tied to gold cannot be as easily printed on demand.
Since fiat currencies are no long tied to gold, gold hoarding by nation-states including China is not a problem. Money needed is printed, and money hoarded loses value to inflation. Interest rates are terrible if you’re a saver; this is no accident. The more money redirected into financial instruments the less can be returned in goods and services.
Even though fiat money is still tied to the production of goods and services, and COVID-1984 has accelerated pressure to reduce the production of goods and services worldwide already felt by an aging consumer base, that’s not an imitation of the reduction of the gold supply in the 1920s.
[Goods and services are constantly being created and consumed or destroyed; fiat can follow that. Gold is always accumulating incrementally from mining at a very slow rate. There is no comparison, or at least significant limits in comparison.]
China, only retains such U.S. dollars as they need to maintain balance of trade. They are not hoarding U.S. dollars; there’s no point.
The problem for the U.S., and Western nations dependent on U.S. supremacy, is that China and every other nation that can, are not dumb enough to subsidizing U.S. dollars beyond what they can back with trade.
If the Chinese were overbought into US. dollars, they would have a problem, but they do not appear to be.
The U.S. dollar is the world supercurrency by being backed most by every other nation’s GDP. It makes no sense for the U.S. to slow world trade as this means they hit the wall of peak U.S. dollar demand far sooner and can’t cushion against a world economic downcycle.
Unlike gold, goods and services cannot be hoarded and released in a manner as easily as gold was.
Nothing will change until the MIC is put on a tight leash.
That’s only possible if the U.S. adopts a Swiss-styled democracy using binding referendums to curb the crony capitalist cozy dealmaking of captured elected representatives.
At this point, tweaking the electoral system with proportional representation isn’t enough. Elected reps are too quickly disconnected from the electorate after elections.
That’s when elections aren’t cheated.
The true world peace comes from socialism not capitalism…!
China’s economy is more capitalist than ours.
China’s economy is bout as crony-fied as ours, but with less propaganda panache.
We still don’t answer to social credit QR codes yet, though.
COVID-1984 reset fanatics are working on that.
True world peace comes from genuine free market capitalism, not different incarnations of crony capitalism.
Crony capitalism could be the last stage of capitalism.
Marxist linear thinking. Nature works in cycles and human systems imitate nature. For all of some humanity’s hatred of the natural world, there is no escaping natural cycles.
Capitalism works in a cycle and the monopoly stage was long identified as part of this cycle, albeit intially applied to individual businesses and industries.
Crony capitalism is a market-wide phase of monopoly, but cannot last before free market forces correct to a freer state.
The Great Reset is an attempt by today’s top monopolists to avoid being corrected, at the expense of everyone else.
Leftist neo-communism crony capitalism attempts to freeze the system like a game of musical chairs, preserving the most powerfully politically connected in positions of dominance.
COVID-1984 and surveillance state QR codes are not the dawn of a new leftist utopia but a rehash of old European totalitarian dystopias like Fascist National SOCIALIST Germany and the Marxist Communist Soviets.
The danger here, is that China’s CCP fundamentally misunderstands what tripped up the Soviet Communist Party (SCP).
The SCP had no free market economy, therefore there was no way to accurately regulate supply and demand. A free market economy, includes the political economy.
Although theoretically a one-party system can exist, by necessity a free market economy entails political freedom as well. There’s a reason for the term ‘socio-economics’; society and the economy are interdependent.
The Soviet State tried to determine for the people what they should want, but real market demand simply went increasingly underground, fostering ever deeper levels of corruption. There was little public acceptance of law and order, because laws were either crony-corrupt or where putatively ethical, unevenly enforced. It was not possible to be legally compliant in all things and survive.
Even after the Soviet People voted to try and save the Soviet Union, the black market economy had already fostered powerful oligarchs into being. They simply stepped out of the shadows of the no-longer-public bureaucracy and assumed hard power as private crony captitalist warlords, carving up the Soviet Union back into its constituent states.
The CCP reliance upon and support of Western (read Europe First) oligarchs, as demonstrated through COVID-19 compliance and their pioneering and adoption of their social credit social surveillance system, its not sustainable.
Western oligarchs now want to impose that same system of social credit on the West; its regimentation for war with China, necessary to preserve their power and survive the conflicts that unfold.
The ‘real’ socio-political economy, in China but also Western nations falling under COVID-1984, will continue diverge from the public government until the latter becomes a hollow facade. Continuing on a Europe First path will always conflict with a China First path, an America First path, an Ausrtalia First path, and so-on because the fundamental source of conflicts will always be hidden and misunderstood.
The European Western oligarchy is no more friend to China then their own peoples, or pawn allies such as the United States.
