President Biden released a statement on Friday marking the seventh anniversary of Russia’s annexation of Crimea where he said the US will “never” accept Russian sovereignty over the peninsula.
“The United States continues to stand with Ukraine and its allies and partners today, as it has from the beginning of this conflict,” Biden said. “The United States does not and will never recognize Russia’s purported annexation of the peninsula, and we will stand with Ukraine against Russia’s aggressive acts.”
Left out of Biden’s statement was the reason for the Russian annexation. In 2014, the US-orchestrated a coup in Ukraine. The largely ethnic Russian population of Crimea rejected the new nationalist anti-Russian government in Kyiv that even had neo-nazis in its midst. Polls after the annexation show the majority of Crimeans were in favor of joining Russia.
The Biden family benefited greatly from the coup. Shortly after the change in government, President Biden’s son Hunter landed a high-paying job on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas company.
President Biden tapped an architect of the Ukraine coup for a high-level position in the State Department. Victoria Nuland, the wife of neoconservative Robert Kagan, is the nominee to be the under secretary of state for political affairs.
A recording of a phone call between Nuland and then-US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt was leaked and released on YouTube on February 4th, 2014. In the call, Nuland and Pyatt discussed who should replace the government of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, who was forced to step down on February 22nd, 2014.
Biden is owned by the Chinese and also by Ukrainian oligarchs and others as well. He is the true Manchurian candidate. We have a Zombie puppet president.
The Crimea is Russian and has been for 300 years. The coup in the Ukraine is like the ongoing coup in this country led by the Neocons and the New World Order.
There was only one goal of the Ukrainian coup and that was the sea port of Crimea where the Russian fleet is based , if tha plan had worked it would now be a NATO base , when the plan failed the US lost interest and the mess you see today is the result , the Ukrainians must be as thick as planks if they couldn`t see what was taking place.
So will Biden also reject Israel’s annexation of the Golan after Trump moved to recognise it.
And what about the war-war unification of Vietnam?
I don’t see the similarity? Vietnamese may have preferred one government over another, but they always regarded themselves as one nation. Unification is not the same as annexation.
The US completely depopulated Diego Garcia of it’s owners and still illegally occupies the islands.
Accutally it was the Brits the US was lookig for some where to put yet another base andthe Brits said you can have Diego Garcia and deported the people who where all british passport holders.
The annexation, which over 90% of Crimeans supported, occurred after the Washington regime overthrew Ukraine’s elected government using paid demonstrators and snipers. Since then, neonazis have taken de-facto power.
Correct, although reannexation is more accurate.

Crimea has a large settlement of former Russian military. Sort of like Hawaii only much closer to Russia. They also had a lease until 2042 for their naval base the coup government was openly bragging about ending. Russia controlled Crimea before annexation not allowing it to be settled by Ukrainians. Minus some members of the Ukrainian military seen as loyal to Russia. Crimea was largely owned by Russia before the coup. The coup just forced Russia to end that arrangement. Russia largely kept that arrangement because it gave them influence with the government.
The difference being Hawaii was invaded and occupied over 100 years ago on behalf of sugar planters it had it`s own Royal Family who conveiniently all died in mysterious cercomstances .
What is he, the world emperor? He doesn’t have to “recognize it” … it’s a done deal. Six years done, now.
Too much to ask for American leadership to live in the real world?
How long did it take Uncle Sam to recognize the PRC?
about 30 years.
Biden probably can’t accept that he’s off to a lousy start as president but it will soon become very apparent, given his conduct and the losers he’s elected to include in hs administration. Sorta like the last guy, in that respect.
Joe can’t spell his first name anymore. Lol. The shadow government is fully in charge.
Been on those conspiracy theory websites again?
Meet the new boss, not all that much different from the old boss. Except maybe for the fact that he appears to be sane.
They are not agreement capable as Putin and Lavrov so often state. Watch Putin’s address to the Davos totalitarians. Russia doesn’t care what these psycopaths think
The peoople of Crimea were lucky to avoid being dragged into the new Ukraine regime. Things are getting better now but they had 4 or 5 bad years following the coup.
The latest is that the Ukrainian regime has cut off the only fresh water supply to Crimea , if this isn`t a crime against humanity i don`t know what is.
Sevastopol explains it all.
But the steal of East Jerusalem by Israel is OK.
Russia, of course did not “Annex” The Crimea. The people of The Crimea voted by 97% to apply for membership of the Russian Federation which was accepted.
De Camp should either stop using the language of the lying warmongers or openly write for their propaganda organs.
The Russian Federation will never accept the USA’s annexation of Hawaii over the islands. The Russian Federation will never accept the UK’s annexation of the Falkland Islands over the islands. Can anyone explain what I am missing here?
Gibraltar…Northern Ireland perhaps?
Both of which wish to remain part of the UK.
Falkland Islands also wish to remain British, certainly not Argentinian. Hawaii might one day secede, but it’s far from majority native today.
The Brits have a fair claim to the Falkland Islands. The US stole Hawaii.
My comments about the Falklands were sarcastic. A 99+% vote in favour of remaining British is unbelievable, unless you’ve ever met a Falklander. I met one in ’88, a RNer. I was introduced by my Chief who had served in the war.
Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to return to Mother. Three times in fact.
Kosovo might be a better example to mock with. I expect Falklanders are “more British than the British,” same as the Rhodesians were. That’ll change, of course, (if only due to immigration there), but I guess that’s off topic.

If we’ve established a sort of Ius Gentium (law of nations, term used by Cicero) whereby no map may change, such should at least be stated. The problem I have both with US foreign policy and with the antiwar movement generally, is a lack of a clarity. Such provides unity in a movement, easier to unite against something “bad,” but it also matters what replaces the current standard.
Americans united against Saddam, unite today against Assad, unite against Crimea. And here, we unite against involvement in Crimea, Syria, etc. But it’s a very mass, populist movement on both sides. There’s little clarity, no alternative ethos, little history, little even of current events. Similarly, some Americans united against Trump, or separately “Critical Theory” was used to unite against the US nation, or “5th gen warfare” seems to generally be a union against the current establishment.
The alternative matters also. Everyone is just against this or that but not for anything.
What kind of fair claim does one little island have over another little island ten thousand kilometers away?
Dibs. Oldest, continuous settlement. I expect eventually it will join Argentina due to future workers migrating in. That’s not the case today, at least that I’ve read, but demographics can change quickly. It’s basically 4th gen war.
Realpolitik, Falklands are just UK’s bc UK’s willing to fight for it and is stronger. And others arent willing to get involved. UK has nukes, but the loss of Falkland Isles wouldnt be seen as vital enough to use them. So, nukes/WMD dont matter here.
But at the same time, Russia will obviously not give up Crimea. Ukraine was promised territorial integrity when it gave up its nukes, but even with Ukrainian nukes that Ukraine had come to fully control, I expect Crimea would be Russian after recent events. No one wants a nuclear war.
It would have been better to give the Falkland Islanders a miilion pounds each to relocate , the war was nothing more than a war to get Thatcher realected the cost in soldiers lives and money was a a front to humanity not to mention the sinking of a battle ship which was leaving the area with the loss of 800 sailors live the majority being teenagers.
In Northern Island about 50/50 Gibraltar I don’t know.
Excellent history, let’s just recap three steps in 2014 —
>March 11 – Crimean Parliament Passes ‘Declaration Of Independence’
>March 16 – Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to join Russia
>March 18 – Crimean and Russian officials signed the Treaty of Accession of the Republic of Crimea to Russia
I’m told from a reliable source that NATO troops that have entered Syria and Iraq are there for show and haven’t actively engaged the opposition.
Despite the “show” of infantry forces along Russia’s borders, the last military conflict war to end all wars and humanity will entail missile supremacy. I’m not discounting the hybrid aspect entailing cyber, sanctions, and regime change. That’s appears NATO’s initial offensive strategy.
The Deep State has concerns about body bags and large, publicized death counts ala Vietnam. We wouldn’t want the sheeple concerned about life and death issues during an economic crisis, much less a war.
And who has invested heavily in missiles and probably has the best missiles? Hint. It ain’t NATO.
Meanwhile the United States is intending to re-fight the World War 2. And who won that rather than just being on the winning side?
He also said it would end humanity; so, maybe we cant win that war. So, if the US wastes less, it might then just destroy more in said conflict.
I wonder if any remote islands survive great war scenarios…
The 1997 Russia-Ukraine Friendship Treaty ensured “the protection of the ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious originality of national minorities on their territory” and the creation of “conditions for the encouragement of that originality.”
The US-promoted neo-Nazi rebellion against the democratic Ukraine government, featuring Senator McCain and Victoria Nuland giving out cookies, with the accompanying attacks on Russian minorities in Ukraine, was what caused Russia’s fully-justified reactions.
So there’s no violation of an agreement by Russia. When any terms of an agreement are disturbed by one party, all other terms are justifiably null and void.
The US Navy had an interest in Sevastapol, Russia’s only warm-water port. But that came to a halt in 2014.
The plan was to turn the Russian base into a NATO base but the Ukrainians being the stupid idiots they are couldn`t see it.
let the US get out of Guantanamo Bay (& give it back to Cuba), and the illegal US/UK nuke base at Diego Garcia, and stop illegally occupying and attacking northern African and middle eastern nations (Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, poor Yemen), and stop initiating and supporting illegal coups world-wide … and stop supporting Israeli attacks on all its neighbors and its illegal occupation of Palestine…. and …. and
(and that’s just from the last few years/decades)
…..And then the world can talk about Crimea
There’s only one solution; Give Crimea back to Lithuania.
No, to the Goths … or maybe to the Scythians
Yep. Anybody but the nextdoorskees.
More seriously, the solution is for the “world” to not involve itself in others’ affairs. If Russia and Ukraine wish to conflict, let them. The US shouldnt be involved.
The US was running amuck in the Middle East invading, occupying, waging war’s and had created the huge refugee problem in many places. Russia at the same time was almost pleading with the US to take it easy, slow down and look at the turmoil you are creating. Then the US supporting the upheaval in Ukraine, Russia had no choice but to draw a red line in self defense and the Crimea situation is a result of that insanity.
Biden doesn’t seem to know that the people of Crimea overwhelmingly voted to be taken back into Russia. And the reason they did that was because the new Ukrainian government (installed by the US) was going to ban the use of the Russian language in Ukraine and nearly all the Crimeans speak Russian. He seems to have fallen for the anti-Russian propaganda that is fed to us day after day.
The people of Crimea were coerced into signing the referendum. Tanks all gassed up and running on the border will do that.
Not surpised he wont accept. The will of the citizens who live there matters not all to these people. At home or abroad.
