Suggestions that the US could somehow take advantage of the coronavirus pandemic to finally secure a regime change in Venezuela were originally Juan Guaido’s idea. But the US quickly offered a revised proposal where Guaido and Maduro both stepped aside in favor of a new pro-US regime,
Over a week in, there are no signs of any takers, but the US is still sticking with that plan with Elliott Abrams saying that the US is determined to push ahead the “Democratic Transition Framework for Venezuela” plan.
The US declared a regime change in early 2019, announcing that Maduro is no longer president but Guaido is. After a solid year of getting the international community to accept this, however, Guaido seems no more likely now to take power, and the “transition” plan suggests the US goal is ousting Maduro more than it is propping up Guaido.
Abrams says he hopes that US proposal will be discussed in Venezuela as the coronavirus breakout looms, and that they’ll ultimately decide that accepting US demands is the best way to ensure international aid.
Silly Guaido. Actually thinking he was something other than a warm body.
We need to push for regime change in the US.. and I’m not talking about just getting rid if Trump.. The whole gang of thieves needs to be purged.
Take a look a abrams’ dead eyes and tell me there is an ounce of humanity in him.
He has been affiliated with some of the most ghoulish atrocities in latin america going back to ray gun. Yep, he is the man from state and here to help.
You have a real valid point here, Taras, and I fully agree with you, Simply look into Elliott Abrams’ dead eyes and tell me there’s an ounce of humanity in him. He’s been affiliated with some of the most ghoulish atrocities in Latin America, going back to the ray gun,
This ghoul belongs in Gitmo, not here in the US pushing for regime change in Venezuela. The vast majority of Venezuelan voters have elected President Nicolas Maduro not just once, but twice .. The opposition, on the other hand, boycotted the elections. They could’ve chosen a good candidate; but, instead, they allowed this egotistic showman – Guaido – to proclaim himself President.
Corporations say they want another country’s resources. The President, the CIA, says OK. Regime change plans drawn up: sanctions (to kill 500,000 children), no fly zone (secure the air, hence no defense for target country, embargo (no aid gets to target country). That is not all: threaten other countries that would dare to assist target country.l
Now in effect against Venezuela (lots of oil) and Iran (lots of oil).
