A US MQ-9 drone was shot down on Tuesday over northern Yemen, and while the indications are this was a Yemen thing, US officials are wasting no time in trying to make it all about Iran, accusing Iran of being behind the whole thing.
US officials are saying that Iran must have made the missile that shot
down the drone, a ground-to-air missile that was fired by Yemen’s Houthi
movement against their drone. Officials are promising more
investigations.
Which probably doesn’t mean actual investigations. Blaming Iran is an
end unto itself, and any evidence can only throw that into doubt,
particularly when the Houthis are denying any Iranian involvement, and
saying they made the missiles “locally” within Yemen.
There is no apparent evidence of Iranian involvement in the first place,
beyond blaming Iran being convenient for the US, and past Saudi
attempts to link the Houthis to Iran to try to get international support
for the war.
Yemen’s Ansar Allah rebels admitted , the missile strike straight up.
They will be holding a press conference with all the details.
US can’t wait for that, always assigns blame first.
They pulled this same shit in Nam. Every time the Cong kicked our ass, it was somehow magically the Russian’s or the Chinese’s fault. Its like, Damn son, how can an anti-colonialist catch a f**king break. You work your ass off building missiles in your uncle’s garage, and you FINALLY nail a drone, and some other motherf**ker gets all the cred. Harsh.
Blaming the Russians is now the go-to excuse for the democrats to use. Funny how it all comes back around to the standard boogeyman.
Russians are the Democrat’s Muslims. Every crook needs a foreigner to point at and scream “There’s the bad guy!”
Iran “must have made the missile?” The missile was probably American made, left in Iraq, and sold on the black market. Just saying.
You can’t provoke war unless you keep at it day and night…..as the US is doing.
How much did Yemen’s home made anti-drone missile cost? And how many millions did our drone cost? Maybe our drone ‘pilots’ are getting sloppy and just rushing to have their video game character respawn. Hey, Airman Smith, your Mom called from upstairs and your pizza rolls are ready.
You have a valid point there, John S. Yemen’s home made anti-drone missile cost very little, while our drone cost over $250 million. Perhaps our done “pilots” are getting sloppy and just rushing to have their video game character respawn.
I love the last sentence – “Hey, Airman Smith, your Mom called from upstairs and your pizza rolls are ready.”
A chance to make some cash while giving the US another excuse to piss and moan about Iran? How many private arms merchants in Israel and everywhere else have deep and firm principles about the impact of their transactions on international relations? All of them: them say give me the cash and just be sure to not tell me what you’re going to do with all these weapons.
For ***YEARS*** I have wondered why, in Afghanistan, these drones have been flying undisturbed. They’re slow, relatively low to the ground — the locals report hearing them buzzing overhead — and they are not the least bit stealthy, ie clearly visible on radar. So how come no shoot-downs till now? I don’t get it.
In any event, the Houthis seem to have figured it out, so I expect that capability will be shared across the Moslem world, and maybe we will see non-stealthy drones being shot out of the sky all over the place. One can only hope.
When an American made munition falls on a school bus full of children in Yemen do we accept full responsibility? Or should I say, do we accept ANY responsibility? Add to that is the fact that our supplying the Saudi’s isn’t only acknowledged, it’s lauded as a job creator by the second coming, er, I mean Trump. The layers of hypocrisy run deep.
The important question to ask is “Why is Yemen an enemy of the American people?” I suspect the answer to that question is Yemen really isn’t and shouldn’t be an enemy of the American people. Yemen never has been and never will be a threat to the American people or their vital interests abroad.
Yemen is an enemy of a family of primitive, dark ages wandering nomads known as “Saudis”. Their tribal feud with Yemenis is centered around ancient myths no one with any sense believes. It also involves access to parts of oil and gas fields. US and EU wealthy elites are involved in this feud because they foolishly promised these primitive nomadic Saudis their undying support. They promised the Saudis undying support because back in the 1920s some silly British “statesmen” handed the Saudis the largest oil and gas fields on the planet. In addition, a few gigantic transnational corporations profit from pushing war in that region so that their owners can live unimaginably decadent lives.
That’s it. It’s no more complicated than that. Ask any American why Yemen is an enemy of the American people and you’ll only get a blank stare.
