Following up on Sunday’s maritime incident in the Sea of Azov, the Ukrainian parliament voted Monday on a declaration of martial law. They are presenting this as a “partial mobilization” of the military as officials hype the possibility of war with Russia.
The martial law will formally begin on Wednesday, and last for 30 days. President Petro Poroshenko said he intends to respect the rights of individual Ukrainian citizens during this period.
Importantly, Ukrainian officials are emphasizing that this move is short of a declaration of war on Russia. On Sunday, officials had said the National Security and Defense Council was meeting and intended to declare a “state of war,” though it does not appear any public declaration happened.
On Sunday, three Ukrainian ships crossed into Russian territorial waters, and were seized. Russia said this area of the Sea of Azov was closed for security reasons. Ukraine is demanding the return of the ships and the sailors. Russia says they are temporarily impounded, and that the three sailors wounded in the incident have already been treated and are in no medical danger.
Russian officials are downplaying the incident as a minor one, while Ukrainian officials are already identifying a series of border areas that they expect ground troops to invade. Ukraine has been predicting a Russian invasion for years.
As is often the case, the US and NATO are embracing the Ukrainian narrative, and condemning Russia. Such condemnations come as a matter of course, but so far, are stopping short of any threats to escalate this militarily into a global war.
These Ukrainians really are the lowest of the low. I don’t expect leftists in the US to go after them though because of “Evil Russia”, even though the western Ukrainians were actual, real life Nazi collaborators.
The Western Left loves actual Nazis, threatens to kill elderly men who they accuse of being so solely because of their skin tone.
Left syllogism:
Major premise: White people are evil and should be killed
Minor premise: Russians are white
Conclusion: Kill the Russians
And who is this spokesperson for the left you cite?
A voice in your head?
Perhaps you shouldn’t eat right before bed
I think some off-white driver must’ve criticized Rickies’ horrible parking job today. Just concentrate a little more on your parking Rickie, no one is trying to kill you
Perhaps he can no longer afford his psych meds ?
I’m sure to him the left is Hillary and her ilk.
LOL ! Perhaps you should go outside for a while and quit watching so much Hannity and reading so much Breittbart before you end up shooting up a Mosque or a Synagogue ?
“I don’t expect leftists in the US to go after them though because of “Evil Russia””
Think again. I’m a queer anarcho-syndicalist. Putin would probably lock me up just for walking down a street with pink nail polish. But those were Russian waters, Crimea is Russian territory, and Banderastan has earned itself a good and proper ass licking, some pun intended.
Long story short; this commie-pinko is on the Kremlin’s side of this one.
You’re 100% right, and I totally agree. The Ukrainians are the lowest of the low, and I, too, don’t expect leftists in the US to go after them because of “Evil Russia”, even though the western Ukrainians were, after all, real life Nazi collaborators.
What’s really strange about it all is that the Kiev Regime has lots of Jews in many official positions .. in Parliament and in the military as senior officers. President Pyotr Poroshenko is, himself, a Jew. Therefore, it’s not Jews they hate, only Russians.
I wouldn’t expect either side to go after them since they both fund and back Neo Nazi’s.

I don’t know why you’d accuse only the left of not “going after them” ???
I wasn’t really referring to the asshats in congress. Russia is actually quite popular among the rank and file right wing populist movement, and many of their leaders. This is true both here and in Europe.
The asshats in congress set policy. It doesn’t matter weather the right wing populist movement backs Russia or whether the leftists “won’t go after” Ukraine. Neither group has a say and neither group influences congress.
Well, if congress is the only group whose opinions we are allowed to thnk matters then we should just all shoot ourselves, because they are hopeless.
It’s their “opinions” that set policy. They obviously aren’t concerned about yours or mine.
Then please allow me the permission to discuss the thoughts and feelings of us lesser mortals.
No problem. While we’re at it, how about you stop lumping all “leftists” together as if they are all followers of the witch and I won’t lump all “rightists” together as if they’re all followers of Lindsey Graham or the dead war hero?
How about I say what I want and you say what you want, and we let the others decide what is closer to the mark? Because I don’t give a crap about your opinions.
Sounds good. And likewise on your opinions.
We shall see if push button trillion dollar war has created enough war weariness to persuade the Senate to end Saudi massacre aid in the upcoming vote. Could happen.
Actually the think tanks set policy. The asshats in the auction house formerly known as congress just rubber stamp whatever the highest bidder orders.
To be fair the Ukrainians were under Stalins thumb, he had already killed millions of them before the Nazis arrived. Maybe at that point compared to Stalin the Nazis didn’t look so bad? Tough choice.

US puppet Poroshenko is facing an election in March with only a six percent approval rating, so like any politician he needs a conflict to perk up his political career. So poke the bear! That’ll work, along with a little martial law.
Also the US wants to question Russia’s sovereignty in the Sea of Azov as it has done with China in the South China Sea. Anything anti-Russia is a good thing, which I thought Trump would avoid but there you go. He has been just as anti-Russia as Hillary. And they tell us it’s a democracy.. .not
Here’s an image — Crimea should be brown. But the US/UK media rule the propaganda roost.

Ukraine seems to be an honorary member of US puppet NATO: “We saw that Russia used military force against Ukraine in an open and direct way,” Stoltenberg [US Norwegian flunky] told a news conference after emergency talks of the Western military alliance held at the request of Ukraine, which is not a NATO member.
Using military force in an open and direct way! . . .OMG the US would never do that. Thank you, Stolty, for bringing that to our attention. Military force, like drone rocket attacks and the bombing of poor countries, ought to be closed and secretive.
That way of describing it leads to confusion. Before the incident access to the area was allowed under supervision. The Ukrainian ships chose to disregard that, within the logic of contesting the Crimea as Russian territory, and were intercepted. After the incident the Sea was closed off.
Also I’m sure there is no uniform position within Ukraine and amongst its allies. Some really want war. Others just want escalation. Others are more cautious. The overall result is escalation, just not as fast as it could be.
these were Ukrainian Naval ships, not civilian craft.
Yeah, and Ukraine’s leader promises martial law won’t impact the elections. That is, martial law will end when and if his poll numbers turn around and he’s assured of re-election. Otherwise, who needs elections!?
