Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today laid out his agenda for Saturday talks with Vice President Joe Biden, saying a Russian military build-up in northern Syria, which reported involves “up to 200” Russian troops, is threatening to Turkey and “won’t be tolerated.”
Erdogan expressed particular concern about reports of a team of Russian military engineers arriving in Qamishli, in Hasakeh Province, to investigate the possibility of expanding the runway and capacity of the airport to serve as a Russian air base in northeastern Syria.
The US has recently taken over a base in the same area of Hasakeh from the Kurdish YPG, and Russia seems keen to get a base there as well, as they’ve similarly backed the YPG against ISIS. Erdogan, however, insisted that “There is no difference between PYD, YPG, PKK, or ISIS.”
If the meeting ends up focusing on Russia, the likelihood is that the US will back more NATO deployments into southern Turkey, and probably push for more troops along Russia’s borders in Eastern Europe too just so the Baltic states don’t feel left out. In practice, Turkey’s government may insist it won’t “tolerate” Russia having a base in Kurdish northeast Syria, but can’t actually do anything about it.
Now the USA, Turkey and Russia all have soldiers in Syria. Trouble is that sometimes soldiers shoot at each other, and that can really get out of hand.
“USA, Turkey and Russia all have soldiers in Syria” yet only One Country has legitimacy and that’s Russia.
FOLKS — WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF EMPIRE BUILDERS
For this is why Empire USA was given life, to expand the white European race until it established dominance and dominion over all creation, to enslave and by a genocide to waste native populations such as those of North America, Palestine, Philippians and Haiti.
I apologize for that nasty comment I gave you . You just ticked me off a little more than I could take at the moment . Have a good day
Turks Dogs!
The Russians missed a golden opportunity when Turkey shot down that Russian jet.
Russia should have shot down TWO Turkish jets.
It’s not too late.
The Russians most likely will shoot down any Turkey military planes inside Syria .
Why wait for formalities?
Turkey violates other countries sovereign air and land spaces constantly:
Syria, Iraq, Cyprus, Greece, Iran etc.
The idea of NATO is that if a non-NATO country such as Russia attacks a NATO country, such as Turkey, then the other NATO countries must come to Turkey’s aid, i.e., attack Russia.
The corollary to that idea is that if a NATO country such as Turkey attacks a non-NATO country such as Russia, then Russia has the moral right to attack other NATO countries in response, including the United States – even if the United States did not participate in Turkey’s attack on Russia which, of course, the USG would interpret as the reverse.
As Russia cannot defend itself against NATO in a strictly conventional war, and Putin would doubtless prefer being nuked to suffering a fate such as Qadaffi’s or Saddam’s, we could be on the verge of seeing mushroom clouds over Washington.
However, NATO member Turkey does tolerate it’s citizens being pirated, maimed, murdered and kidnapped in international waters.
But only if they are maimed, murdered and kidnapped by Israel.
Because when it comes to that sh*tty little country, US/NATO big warrior Generals are reduced to hand wringing and teeth gnashing, unable (not allowed) to so much as mutter one single iota of criticism, much less call out the Marines, on their master$ and gods, the fake I$raeli$.
Erdogan is delusional, as well as a megalomaniac. Russia in is Syria AT THE INVITATION OF THE LEGITIMATE SYRIAN GOVERNMENT; they are there legally, unlike Turkey who supports terrorism, stabs it’s friends in the back and invades sovereign nations with the delusion that it somehow has some kind of legitimacy in carrying pout these infractions to international law. Turkey is criminal, and that is the short and totality of it. Maybe Turkey should invade Syria just to see how ell those S-400 batteries work; be a great show for the rest of us, and mega payback for shooting down the Russian SU24
Putting the words “LEGITIMATE … GOVERNMENT” in all caps doesn’t make them any more true. There is not and never has been any such thing anywhere.
It is essential that Turkey is kicked out of NATO until is has sane leadership again. Otherwise there’s a good chance the lunatic running Turkey will start WW III. Turkey is already responsible for state sponsored terrorism against fellow NATO members.
