The State Department today angrily condemned the Palestinian proposal for statehood submitted to the UN Security Council, insisting it fails to account for Israel’s needs.
The Palestinians had revised the bid in an attempt to avoid a US veto, but still wanted international recognition for an independent Palestinian state by the end of 2017.
The US veto, pushed by Israel, still seems assured, and Secretary of State John Kerry tried to convince the Palestinians to delay the resolution until after the Israeli election in March.
Palestinians officials said Kerry not only vowed a US veto, but threatened to impose US sanctions against the Palestinians for even trying to submit the resolution.
It is unclear where the alternative resolution pushed by France stands in all of this. That resolution simply sought to set a deadline to restart peace talks, though Israeli officials were equally outraged at that version, and similarly demanded a veto. It remains unclear if the US will veto, or indeed if that version will be offered at all.
How dare they seek self-determination and sovereignty! Clearly something the US must oppose. What's good for Ukraine, Kosovo, Georgia, can't be good for Palestine. Haven't they heard, it's all about israel, all the time, just ask any US politician. Well, I'm sure Kerry told them. How sad it must be to be Kerry. Here you are, pro-Palestinian but representing some foreign position, that isn't yours or the people's you represent.
Whores don't always get to choose who f#cks them.
Scared Sh55**less of the Zionist that goes foe every US poiltican.
It is in their interest to gain a state. It is also in their interest to have a Bush in office rather than an Obama who can be a crowd pleaser in Israel. They need someone who is honest with their intentions so the rest of the world is forced to deal with Israel's real policy of conquest and the implementation of the clean break strategy. Would sanctions affect them that much? They are already at the bottom of the economic hierarchy.
DISGUST
Is the only thing one can feel for the US attitude towards the people of Palestine.
That the "so-called CHAMPIONS" of freedom and democracy can behave in this manner is utterly incomprehensible.
The Zionist controls your country "BUB"
Pets in America are treated more humanly than African americans/ Palestinians
Israel — A place to park our nukes
Actually, there is no such thing as a State of Israel, for there is a U.S. military base called Israel, but it has not a functioning government as all of the politicians are hand picked by the corporate rich and as they make on decisions and pretend to run a government, it cannot be rightfully said that they are a government.
And as for the Israel lobby, as all of their funds come from the corporate rich, most of whom have no religion, as such a lobby does nothing more then launder money for the rich, it should rightfully be called the dictators lobby.
just up. sad, if true:
Jewish Chronicle: Palestinians postpone UN statehood bid
Despite initially announcing they would push for an immediate vote, the Palestinians have postponed the bid and made some amendments to the proposal, which calls for an end to the Israeli presence in the West Bank by the end of 2017.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al Maliki blamed the delay on UN bureaucracy and the need to translate all the amendments to the resolution.
However, some sources have said that the Palestinians are holding off after unexpected opposition came from the American administration and Western European members of the Security Council.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas hoped that France would endorse the resolution, but the French government has yet to announce its position, as is the case with the UK and Germany… http://www.thejc.com/news/world-news/127485/pales…
And just what are "Israeli needs"? Other than whatever land or resources that the Palestinians have that the Israelis covet? Well, every Israeli must enjoy a much higher standard of living than anyone else in the region, or World for that matter. The Israelis must have subhuman non-Israeli workers around to do the scut work that no Israeli would/or should stoop to. And the Israelis must have their world-view accepted – i.e. that the rest of the World owes Israel and that the Palestinians are some kind of dogs
Is there any place that we do not have sanctions on? We are a nation which do not manufacture anything so I wonder what we are going to do when we are not doing business with any foreign nation other than israel? We once had too much farm product but today we need to import much of our food. How long can the federal reserve keep the party going when we have nothing to sell because they are not allowed to do business with them.
This could call for damage control for US facesaving. The surest way to accomplish that is to blame Putin. And they should choose a particularly nasty stock picture of Putin for the occasion. Maybe the one of him riding a horse with no shirt?
The Palestinians should edit the Declaration of Independence.to change the names of the parties and re-issue it in the form of a UN resolution in support of their right to independence.
Be interesting to see if a US veto would follow.
Would it have worked for any nation that opposed Hitler's WW2 Germany?
"The State Department today angrily condemned the Palestinian proposal for statehood submitted to the UN Security Council, insisting it fails to account for Israel’s needs."
The State Department has become an auxiliary institution of the Likud. Diplomacy has lost any meaning, the State Department has morphed into a combination of the CIA/NSA and Pentagon with a neocon ideology guiding it. With the Israeli agent's inflitration into powerful and senior positions of government and promoting policies against the best interests of the U.S. I just wonder when the serious blowback from the general population will start. Awareness is growing but still nascent. But when the masses become fully aware even the JDL won't be able to stop it with accusations of racism.
Let him go to hell with his sanctions!
