Fully half of the US Senate has now signed on as co-sponsors of the “Nuclear Weapons Free Iran Act of 2013,” a bill that aims to violate the P5+1 interim deal by imposing new sanctions on Iran, effectively ending chances for a diplomatic rapprochement.
The bill, first introduced by Senate hawks before Christmas, not only aims to impose sanctions but also expresses US support for any Israeli military attack on Iran at any time in the future.
President Obama has threatened to veto the bill, saying he wants to keep diplomacy going for the time being, and the White House says the veto plan remains in effect.
With 50 sponsors though, the Senate hawks seem to be moving close to a veto-proof majority in the Senate, meaning they could sabotage the P5+1 talks even without the president’s permission.
Give us the names of these traitors. I couldn't find it in the story. I want to find out if my senator is involved.
American people MUST reprint the name of all fifth column 'senators' and put it on majority of walls in the crowded areas, on board in Coffee shops, libraries, univeristy boards, on every light poles, on every single cars, on doors and windows. The title must be "arrest fifth column senators who are acting against Amercian people's interest".
Give us the names of these traitors. I couldn't find it in the story. I want to find out if my senator is involved.
If you live in WI they were not as of the 46 that were first onboard
I too live in WI and have been watching
I signed a petition that opposes this and have yet to here back from either
The names were in a list published on Antiwar the other day – I know that one of my Senators- the corrupt Sen Manchin is on it – I intend to speak to his staff this morning and give them an earful about the US's need to start another war for those monsters in Israel

Schmuck Schumer? BIG SURPRISE (not)
By my count, there are 16 traitorous democrats on the list. I was amazed that brand-new African American senator Booker is a co-sponsor. Apparently, Israel-firster Menendez got to him, but that's really stabbing Obama in the back. Both of my disgusting PA senators have signed.
we should really go back to having senators appointed by the states rather than having them elected.
they would be far less beholden to a single foreign state.
what makes you think the same people that are bribing/balckmailing these senators wouldnt be able to bribe/blackmail the state into the same thing…
the fact is they would do the same thing
they dominate the states the same way they dominate the senate
the only way this is going to get any better is a massive outcry from the public against ..the foreign agents
and US msm keeps what aipac and the like… covered up
i think it would be alot more difficult to bribe off 50 separate state assemblies most of which have more than 100 members.
its would not be impossible, but it would be a far cry from the joe libermans and john mccains we have now

I agree with you paul. The original intent of the Constitution was for the popularly elected House to represent the people in their districts, and the Senators were supposed to represent their states. When the Constitution was changed to have direct election of the Senate, it perverted the whole idea, but was thought to be more "democratic."
These traitors belong in a cell next to Jonathan Pollard.
50 agents of a foreign power – in war time too.
As a signatory to the Non Proliferation Treaty, Iran accepts continuing IAEA inspection and has an internationally recognized right to develop and implement nuclear technology. Having rejected both IAEA inspection and the NPT, Israel has no such right. Yet the Jewish State has hundreds of nukes and openly threatens Iran, actually campaigns for war against Iran. Israel, not Iran, is the warmonger. Resolution lies with lifting all sanctions and compensating Iran for damages from the $$$ billions we will no longer be giving the Jewish state. American foreign policy must again serve American interests, not the Jewish state's paranoid pursuit of invulnerability, territorial conquest and racist empire in and beyond the Mideast.

I find it incredible that so many senators, especially Dems usually supportive of Obama, are willing to risk war. It appears loyalty to Israel trumps their loyalty to the US. The anti-Syrian war people are, so far, asleep at the switch on this one. Let's hope they wake up before it is too late. Our many pollsters need to conduct polls on this to find out what the US public thinks. President Obama needs to stay strong. He should take his case to the American people. The upcoming State of the Union speech would be the perfect time to do it.
Why doesn't Congress just relocate to Israel?
Why doesn't Congress just relocate to Israel?
b/c DC as a whole is israeli occupied territory?
The real reason they do not move to Israel, BECAUSE they are not welcome, something about them not actually being Jewish! Apartheid doesn't allow for any exceptions!
Eager to cut their (and our) own throats for the pleasure of Israel. Even to the brink of 'ending all life on earth'. A 'ship of fools'.
Those 50 Senators are giving the USA the reputation it deserves according to news reports……

When Congress has an approval rating in the single digits and a reelection percentage over 90 its hardly fair to blame the members for acting as they please.
The electorate alone carries the can for permitting this sort of insanity.
If you don't like what they're doing – vote for someone else next time around.
Otherwise grin and bear it.
Bi-partisan support for this abomination should dispel any thoughts that there's a difference between the parties. Note that support of Israel's agenda was at the top of their "to Do" list after the holiday recess. Next up is TPP, the Corporate Freedom to Exploit bill that's going to be fast tracked through Congress.
And Iran did which evil deed, again ? Refresh my memory.
Iran did no evil deed, buddy; it just kept working on its civilian nuclear program which, btw, Israel even does not tolerate. The Zionist Entity wants the Islamic Republic to be bombed back to the Stone Age, pure and simple.
Iran hasn't attacked its neighbors in over 400 years; can Israel boast of that restraint in its 65-year existence?
"Iran hasn't attacked its neighbors in over 400 years"
Iran invaded Iraq in 1975.
Pick up a book some time. You might learn something and prevent yourself further embarrassment.
Oh, really?
"The Iran–Iraq War began when Iraq invaded Iran via air and land on 22 September 1980. It followed a long history of border disputes, and was motivated by fears that the Iranian Revolution in 1979 would inspire insurgency among Iraq's long-suppressed Shia majority as well as Iraq's desire to replace Iran as the dominant Persian Gulf state. Although Iraq hoped to take advantage of Iran's revolutionary chaos and attacked without formal warning, they made only limited progress into Iran and were quickly repelled; Iran regained virtually all lost territory by June 1982.
…
From March 1974 to March 1975, Iran and Iraq fought border wars over Iran's support of Iraqi Kurds.[45][49] In 1975, the Iraqis launched an offensive into Iran using tanks, though the Iranians defeated them.[37] Several other attacks took place; however, Iran had the world's fifth most powerful military at the time and easily defeated the Iraqis with their air force. As a result, Iraq decided against continuing the war, choosing instead to make concessions to Tehran to end the Kurdish rebellion.[45][49]"
Yes, really.
I'm surprised that Wikipedia's timeline (or perhaps just you modifying it?) leaves out the earlier part — the fact that in January of 1975, Iran sent two regiments into northern Iraq (a process called "invasion," or if you're in a more charitable mood "incursion").
Not that that justifies the bellicose US/Israeli attitude toward Iran, the sanctions, the insistence against all evidence that they're developing nukes, the refusal to adhere to the NPT by supporting their peaceful nuclear power work, etc. It doesn't. But it's never a good idea to make flatly false factual claims like the "Iran hasn't invaded anyone in 400 years" claim in support of one's positions.
One view:
“Control of the Kurds, who dominated most of northern Iraq, had been a problem that had plagued the successive governments in Iraq since independence. … A modus vivendi was arrived at that accorded the Kurds a measure of autonomy … the Kurds were receiving support from both the United States and Iran … Iran not only provided the Kurds with American and Israeli arms, but also provided them with an anti-aircraft missile umbrella. In January 1975 the shah also sent two Iranian army regiments into the Kurdish held areas of Iraq, creating a standoff that set the stage for a major conflict …”
– "creating a standoff," note, not exactly an attack, but it could be called an invasion.
Another view:
“1974 – 13 March- Negotiations between Mustafa Barzani’s Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) and the Iraqi government break down after the Kurdish Autonomous Region is only half the area the KDP demanded, and excludes oil-rich Kirkuk. …
1974-1976 – Renewal of hostilities with Kurds in N. Iraq, crushed by Iraqi government (1974-5), with razing of Zakho and Qala’at Diza. 800 villages along the Iran-Iraq border are evacuated (1976). 130,000 Kurds flee to Iran.
1975 – January- Iran sends 2 regiments into KDP-controlled areas of Iraq; war averted through Turkish, then Algerian, mediation.”
– "war averted," note, but it could be called an incursion.
"Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party."
Except that the shah was hardly a good man (being more a tyrannical imposed puppet), the 2 regiments were sent in to *defend* the local natives seeking self-determination (some natives need more defence, see elsewhere nearby) – some invasion; compare to Eileen K's "Iran hasn't attacked its neighbors in over 400 years …" Context is everything.
skrik,
That's a pretty good accounting of the nuances involved.
"Iran hasn't attacked its neighbors in over 400 years" is a good-sounding talking point, but that's all it is.
That talking point is not required to make the case for Iran's right under NPT to develop nuclear power and the obligation of other NPT signatories to assist, rather than hinder, them in that development.
Nor is that talking point required to make the case against US/EU sanctions on Iran levied on the basis of various spurious claims.
Nor is that talking point required to make the case against the US acting as Israel's crony/proxy in its brinksmanship with Iran.
We don't have to pretend that Iran has been pure and peaceful as the driven snow to make any of these cases. In fact, that pretense weakens, rather than strengthens, those cases. If you blow smoke up someone's ass with Claim A, it's reasonable for them to assume that you're also blowing smoke up their ass with Claim B, Claim C and Claim D.
You're surprised that every source on that war that Iraq started at our urging, left that out too. Maybe because one source is wrong and the multitude of other sources that don't mention that, are right?
Rightster,
You might want to check your calendar. Iran's invasion/incursion of Iraq occurred five years before the war you're talking about. I'm unaware of any source on Iran/Iraq relations circa 1975 that don't mention the Iranian invasion/incursion.
It happened. It's a fact. Unless you invent a time machine and go back to change it, it will remain a fact regardless of how inconvenient that fact may be to your desire for pithy talking points versus real argument.
Presidential vveto!
One has to wonder how much of this support is bankrolled by AIPAC and/or its front groups.
"What sort of government have we, Mr. Franklin?"
–"A Republic, Madam, if you can pay for it."
I am waiting for the day when the US of A declares itself a bankrupt nation and dismember itself. That is the only escape for the American people to redeem themselves from the slavery and strangulating hold of the LOBBY. That will be good for the world at large.I wish some terrorists shoot the traitors. It is an irony that a system where a bunch of traitors can sabotage the vital interests of a nation for sake of a foreign country call itself democracy. Some democracy.
The list of senators indicates the individuals who have been totally corrupted by a foreign country. Note for future reference for prosecution of high treason. Iran has given every indication of willingness to compromise, and virtually every country in the world except Israel , Arabia, and France support negotiation. Russia has informed the world of Military support for Iran- but only if a hostile power starts trouble; Americans must inform their government that the blood and resources of our country will not be squandered on ruinous aggressive military crimes just because AIPAC demands it. This corrupt group is taking the world into a war everyone will regret, those that are still alive that is. Support our President, this is one issue he is right about, America first!
