Faced with calls from the international community to see some sort of progress on a negotiated settlement, Syrian President Bashar Assad has agreed to an April 10 deadline to start implementing Kofi Annan’s UN-backed plan.
The deadline would have Syrian government forces withdrawing from cities and granting humanitarian access, as well as moving toward a full ceasefire within 48 hours of the deadline.
The first part should be easy enough. The second part would require the rebel factions to stop fighting — and there’s no indication so far they would consider doing so.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Assad against having any “excuses,” but since yesterday she was insisting that the US position is still an unconditional demand for regime change, it seems inevitable that even if the continued fighting is a function of the rebels launching post-deadline attacks the US will blame Assad.
Of course, Assad hasn’t set a great precedent for this, having agreed to a similar Arab League-backed plan months ago and never followed through on withdrawing the troops from the cities. It was the lack of progress on that particular “agreement” that allowed the Saudi-led faction in the Arab League to push for a policy of backing the rebels and imposing regime change.
For now, Syria’s civil war will continue; next week seems a long way off. The rebel factions have been angling for ways to funnel more arms into the country, and the smuggling along the Lebanese border is causing tension between the Syrian government and local Lebanese governments in the border area.
We said that from the beginning, Hillary Clinton is like Madeline Albright, she would lie about anything and everything as long as she get by, that is her strength in democratic politics, she would cooperate with anyone and anything to implement her personalized imagination that this or that government is better then the other, the negative aspect of all of this is that people get killed, yet this has been the US democrats and their democratic policies when it comes to militarizing the world.
In this regard these people, as Bill Clinton or Madeline Albright and Hillary Clinton and her boss Barack Hussein Obama don't care about those who are prisoned by the Tyrants in Jordan or those whom are killed in Saudi Arabia or UAE, or those Syrians whom are murdered by these Tyrants terrorist groups. Below is Hillary Clinton saying about the present situation in Syria while in Turkey.
"Well today we heard from a deputy Oil Minister who defected. We do see those kinds of cracks. We think the defections from the military are in the thousands," Clinton said.
"When there were a couple of defections, the regime has cracked down and is bascially holding families hostage. But that is an unsustainable system. You cannot turn the country into a giant prison. People are not going to put up with that. We think that there are cracks. I can't put a time frame on it but we think that that is beginning to happen," Clinton said.
Again Lies after another because she lost the bet on Syria, so she as Madeline Albright and her boss, always have a plan B ready to justify their A plan lie by another lies. I don't think that she even knows whats that Oil minister name is, I don't even think that she even knows what is going on, I don't even think that her boss even knows what is going on or what is she doing. Here, one thing is for sure, Hillary wants to have regime change in Syria, Iran, China, Russia, Africa South America and what is left of this world, but if asked "for what reasons" she would stumble in her lie about democracy, she would declare her Persona feeling with another lie and then lie again.
American people have to pay some of the costs to those terrorist groups and leaders of these groups whom are living in Paris, London and Turkey, now that they are on the State payroll they will have a better life until the end of $100, million dollars that is going to be pledged, question is how long this amount is going to last.., that is to say if rebels ever get that amount and what they are going to do with it, buy a newer weapon from US..? Either way the facts are this: President Assad have and his committed to peace since day one, President Assad agreed with Kofi Annan proposal from day one, that President Assad is committed to follow on his promises; therefore, he agrees with the proposed April 10 withdrawal of Syrian army, now is up to the other side to be committed and stop lying to themselves and rest of the world. Your friends are the Syrian people, not the Americans nor Saudis or UAE or NATO countries in general, they pay you to be their puppet thats all they pay you for.
Obama and Clinton want regime change because of Syria's geographic proximity to Israel and political proximity to Iran, which could complicate Israel's planned attacks on Iran. Assad is far from perfect, but actually no worse than many US allies in the region, and in his weakened state he would be amenable to change, as Annan realizes.
Because the insurgency that the US is backing contains Islamist elements, some of whom are linked with al Qaeda, and because Assad has long protected the Christian minority, most of them have stood by him and greatly fear regime change. As in Iraq, it could become a Christian bloodbath if the insurgency prevails.
This puts Obama in the position of Pontius Pilate, a role he has gleefully accepted.
Pontius Pilate? Very apt description in so far as the statement "What is truth?" is concerned.
The core of all the problem in Middle east lies on Israel, not because of Jewish people but Zionism regimes which have created the problem since 1950s, those immigrant Zionist from Russia, Europe, eastern Europe and lately US, otherwise Jewish and Muslims or Jewish and Arab nationals have no problem living together, they never had, people in general have no problem interacting, it is the governments social politics which divides people.
US and EU build the present Israeli regime to have a friend in the area, that friend turn out to be a costly enemy to entire world using US man and women to fight their fight protect Israel, in the other hand US political system is based on capitalism, capitalism wants to have the world and there is nothing that would satisfy the system appetite’ which is the core and the reason for US and EU wanting to cooperate in all level saving their only friend, otherwise 72% of people in middle east think that US and Israel is their #1 enemy. Simplifying the matter, Capitalism hegemony is for the world to be dominated by vulture capitalism, Zionism thinks that: the world is belong to Zionism. So these system cooperate in all level, solving the problem however, is another direction that US and EU needs to take, facing Israel demanding this apartheid regime to change, using their own created ICC and implementing the war crime laws against Israel, demanding for regime changes in Arab world here and there using ICC against Arab national is racism, like this institution was only made for Africans and Arab National makes the entire UN law system a biased and racists entity, killing people starting another war yet feeling proud, militarizing the world and then wanting to talk about democracy..? Non of these matters makes any sense, because if you want to solve any problem you tackle the roots of the problem. Look, democracy is not based on religious or a religion, this idea is not going to solve any problems, here, I don't think that Barack Hussein Obama knows any of this and even if he knew he doesn’t have the guts to face the problem, thus far his been going the wrong direction so is Hillary Clinton and president before him and Madam Secretary before her, with the state department “privet” army of mercenaries I don't need to say more how and what the US democratic system is about.
what it tells me that there is no democracy coming out of the democratic party, is a privet entity consuming the people wealth, the US democratic, so as EU social democracy and others a like, party has become so divided so complex and so dependent on Tyrants as Saudis and UAE and others that even the leaders have lost the principals in democracy by not knowing what they are doing, they do their things hoping for something good to come out of what they are doing, this kind of policies is not related to democracy at all. Therefore Hillary Clinton is “betting" on Syrian regime to be changed, not what the reality is or where the problem is.
You were doing so good tell you came to this part,
As in Iraq, it could become a Christian bloodbath if the insurgency prevails.
In the Middle East Muslims and Christians live like brothers, most of my neighbors
Are Christians, from the sixties and tell mid nineties my best friend was a Christian
No need to mention to what he did to me that we became otherwise and what
Went in Iraq was nothing but divide and conquer business done by you know whom.
What a war mongering article !
"allowed the Saudi-led faction in the Arab League to push for a policy of backing the rebels and imposing regime change."
it is by UN charter NEVER allowed to back rebels and regime change ! This is external interference in internal affair and not allowed.
and worse – this claim covers that exactly the US and its arab dictatorship countries did paln und provide the killings in Syria they blame Assad for.
What treacherousness ! I wonder why I find such articles at an antiwar website.
ll what this Syrian UN Minister say can be proofed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy0e3ZnNfVs
SYRIA: Terrorism & Manipulation – a Revolution [1/3]
The Syrians better get ready, Assad making a promise means only one thing: he plans to annihilate them all before then. Consistent with every other occassion when he has called for a truth while pounding everyone and everything in sight.
Disgusting how antiwar.com supports murderous dictators over people who want Freedom…
"Disgusting how in my imagination antiwar.com supports murderous dictators over people who want Freedom…"
