The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood named its chief strategist and financier as a candidate for president on Saturday, a surprising reversal of an earlier pledge to stay out of the race.
Khayrat el-Shater, a multimillionaire businessman who has leader for the group during the tumultuous transition since the ouster of Hosni Mubarak in last year’s popular uprising, is expected to be the frontrunner in the race for the May 23-24 vote.
The decision pit the Brotherhood, who already controls about half of the seats in parliament, strongly against Egypt’s military rulers, who still receive U.S. funding and have demonstrated little interest in giving up power.
Some are concerned that a victory for the presidency could give the majority party an expansive mandate to establish strict Islamic law. Officials in the U.S. and Israel are also worried about such a win because the Brotherhood is a lot more difficult to control than the military junta, who have no scruples about suppressing democracy and doing the bidding of the Western superpower.
Incidentally, Mubarak’s former vice president, Omar Suleiman, may also run. Suleiman was Washington’s preferred leader to replace Mubarak immediately after his ouster and would undoubtedly be more amenable to the ruling military council.
A falsified politics in democracy will give you a falsified politicians who will give you a falsified democracy returning the favor. US and EU will never learn this, therefore, they are engaged in all kind of wrong doing with who ever and what ever just to get by hoping for something good to come out of their policies. So to US-EU the war has become the only answer, to Romney the war is the only answer, to Obama the war is the only answer, to Sanitarium the war is the only answer, to John McCain, John Bolton, John Kerry and rest of the falsified democracy the war is the only answer. Therefore US is at war all the time.
Private wealth controls government deadly force — Always
For over a year now I have been posting comments on Anti-War.com about how the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt represents only the rich ruling class, the 25% most wealthy that have always ruler the military and hand picked all the generals.
Surely the Revolution changed nothing.
When the Islamists in Algeria won their election in 1990, the French-controlled military cancelled the results.
When the Egyptian Spring called for Mubarak's ouster, the US hesitated — let's be honest: the US ruling class has no interest in democracy — but they settled for sacrificing Mubarak while retaining their influence through the military, which was the real power anyway.
Now that the Muslim Brotherhood is making its move — and judging from their overwhelming success in the parliamentary elections, they are almost certain to gain the presidency as well, and by another overwhelming majority — watch for the "Algerian Outcome".
Talk of "democracy" by the US is just that: talk.
This is the end of the line for the US in the middle east is coming to an end. The US will not be able to use the Algerian outcome in this instance let alone israeal trying to kill one of the brotherhood it is already curtains for her too.Events are changing that america will not be able to change any thing to her liking to support israel.
