President Obama and the top figures in his administration threaten to attack Iran on a fairly regular basis, following the age old strategy of making such threats which dates back to the Reagan Administration. But is his heart in it? Analysts aren’t so sure.
Instead, they speculate that the threats to attack Iran are idle, and that they are just an “attempt to show support for Israel.” The claim is perhaps a credible one, as during the presidential debates when the subject of Israel is raised most of the candidates to replace Obama seek to prove their superior support with claims that they’re really attack Iran.
Lip-service to a war every politician with serious ambitions claims to want but which has perplexingly never happened over the decades of threats may simply be a form of cursory punctuation in America’s diplomatic short-hand toward Israel. If so it would explain why the occasional candidate who presents anything but unquestioning zeal about starting a massive war in Iran is met with immediate scorn and treated as somehow less-than-serious.
Of course Obama isn't serious about any threats he makes to Iran. Obama will do no action against Iran other than espionage and remote controlled sabotage. And everybody knows it.
However, this does not preclude Obama from being sucked into a war with Iran. Iran has already pledged to retaliate against the US for any attack on it by Israel. And as crazy as it sounds, the Mullahs may preempt the US by attacking us first if they think they are going to be attacked. For instance, if a Republican (other than Romney – Romney is too cautious to ever launch a preemptive war) wins the election, Iran may expect attack, and could preempt by launching all its nukes and/or other WMD on the US and Israel before Obama leaves office.
According to the UN Charter, it is illegal to threaten another country, just as it was illegal to attack Iraq and a few other countries. What can we do? Our economy is war-based, and on that bases, we have to kill people to eat and to make our warmongers and corporations rich. We, the 99% are dumbly in the service of the 1%.
Obama and all americas "Politicans" know a war with Iran will be curtains for their country as of now she is on the skids. Iran is strong no pushover like Iraq your soldiers are sneaking out in the dead of night paying the local milita to watch their asses as they leave as it was in Korea "advancing in another direction "but they will die on Iranian soil no" mission acomplished" there.
