US officials are looking forward to trumpeting the illusory threat posed by the Iranian military once again next month when the Pentagon launches a “mock-Iranian missile” for the military to practice shooting down.
The $150 million test will involve shooting a fake missile from the Marshall Island and then trying to destroy it. Officials say the “Iranian attack” will be challenging for the missile defense system.
The Obama Administration has deployed a large number of ground-based interceptor missiles along the West Coast of the US, ostensibly to thwart the threat of long-range Iranian missiles.
Yet Iran’s missile arsenal has a decidedly limited range, capable of hitting Israel and the tip of Europe with its Shahaab-3 missile, but nowhere near the capacity to launch a missile at California. Even if Iran somehow controlled the Marshall Islands, which are about halfway between Iran and the United States, they still wouldn’t have a missile that could go that far.
Iran’s “threat” is an important message for US officials as they try to convince the public that the nation needs to be attacked. The fact that this drill involves an impossible attack from a mythical Iranian missile suggests the $150 million cost is more a public relations stunt than anything to do with legitimate security.
What a bull**** act to pull.
This is utter madness more suitable to a Monty Python sitcom . What a waste of S150 Million
Are people expected to buy "War Bonds"to support this madness as proposed by Congress???
this is how fals-flag terrorism begins: as a drill.
These pro-war hawks in dove's feathers are out of their freakin mind! How can our leadership be so cavalier about an action that will kill thousands if not millions of innocent civilians, continue our path to insolvency, both economically and morally and make the us the international pariah?
There seems no hope. The military contractors have Congress by their proverbial chestnuts while others have lost their backbone to oppose the ever-opportunistic lobbyists. Our republic has become a plutocrasy, great for Wall St., the pharmecueticals, insurance industry, the bankers, and the Military Industrial Complex, and their Siamese twin, Israel, but for world peace and neglected services for the people, it ranks with Nigeria.
Iran would never increase the range of their missles. Just like North Korea

Kinda sounds like another great big criminal PR stunt initiated by various elements in government agencies– 9/11!!! In order to figure out why we are still in Iraq and Afghanistan, we have to go back to 9/11. Why aren't we talking about the plans the neocons in the Bush administration had to dominate the Middle East and Central Asia, but to pull it off politically, they needed "a new Pearl Harbor." Please discuss Brzienski's book The Grand Chessboard, or at least the neocon Project for a New Century. These people have been telling us what they want to do and make no bones about it. No one talks about it though. Any rational person that looks at the what happened on 9/11 and did even minimal research would know that how the government explained that tragic event through the 9/11 Commission Report is completely false.
