The likelihood of the full version of the 2014 CIA torture report compiled by the Senate Intelligence Committee ever being made public has dropped precipitously, as President Trump has begun returning all copies of the still-classified document to the committee chairman Sen. Richard Burr (R – NC).
Government documents, even classified ones, are supposed to eventually be made public under the Freedom of Information Act, and while the federal government has long gone out of its way to skirt FOIA requirements anyhow, Congress is outright exempt,, meaning if they get all the copies, they likely disappear forever.
This is actually a faction fight between Sen. Burr, eager to keep the document secret, and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D – CA), who chaired the committee when it was written in the first place, and who ordered copies sent to numerous federal agencies specifically so that eventually one of them would release it under a FOIA request.
Burr’s call to recover all the documents is highly unusual, and Trump’s agreement to do so is even more-so. The 6,700 page document excoriated US torture policies after 9/11, and noted that not a single incident of a terrorist attack had been foiled because of the torture.
Vote for Democrats, vote for Republicans, same result.
Obama wanted to keep this report secret. And if I remember correctly, Feinstein also fought at times to keep the report secret as committee chair. She sure as heck didn’t take it to the floor of the Senate and start reading it out the way Sen. Mansfield read the Pentagon Papers.
If voting for the two corporate parties doesn’t change anything, that just tells us we need our own candidates from the grassroots. The empire will never give you a candidate that will change the empire. We are going to have to create our own candidate to change things. And first we should run a whole bunch of Congressional races to make sure our candidate isn’t alone when they get elected.
And the time to start is now. Primaries for next years congressional elections are in the first part of next year. Or if you want to run as an independent, then starting early is better to run a campaign that won’t get media coverage.

Trump is no longer interested in draining the swamp .if he protects the CIA in any way?. If Trump now wants to stick with the CIA , NATO , climate change and the United Nations for our new world orders . It is maybe time for fly over country to form a New United States government right in the center of what used to be part of the 50 United States .We certainly don’t need this big of a country .
