Speaking today, President Obama left little doubt that he intends to eventually start providing weaponry to the Ukrainian military for its civil war, saying only that he needs to be certain it is “used properly.”
Obama expressed concerns that arms could “fall into the wrong hands,” and while he didn’t elaborate, it’s hard to imagine he meant the ultranationalists, since his stated goal with the arms is to “isolate Russia.”
Pentagon officials have speculated that providing arms to Ukraine would scare off the eastern rebels, though many internationally are warning its more likely it will coax Russia into arming the rebels, escalating the proxy war.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is making arguing against the arms shipments a centerpiece of her US visit, as Merkel and French President Francois Hollande are trying to end the war. US and British officials have made clear, however, that they view those efforts as unwelcome.
Chechen terrorists, IS, probably can't wait to get their hands on these weapons.
NATO has been trying to "isolate Russia" since the dissolution av the Soviet union but, in it´s most aggressive form by arming and sending in wahhabi freaks into Chechnya (one of CIA "greatest hits" was the Beslan massacre) and the onslaught on Yugoslavia/Serbia . The only ones we see actually isolated now is the self proclaimed "international community" of US and a handful of vassals.
Amazing, specially after NATO got a bleeding noose and a black eye after another try to "give it" to Russia, in Georgia, that the US regime actually believes that Russia will blink, roll over and let these cowards who has yet to attack someone who isn´t defenseless and half-dead ,after years of sanctions and US supported terrorist attacks, to conquer them. This is an existential threat and Russia treats it accordingly it always has.
Karl XII, Napoleon and Hitler all "went east" (drang nach osten) after Russias vast riches and lost it all, but you wont expect a mere 200 year old settler state built upon the bones of 50 million genocided natives without any history of its own, to learn anything from that, but Merkel, no matter how compliant, sure does.
Putin and Russia are making a terrible mistake in allowing the Ukraine crisis to continue on thinking they can resolve this with diplomacy. The neoconized US regime has zero interest in peace. What's likely to happen now is that the latest gambit by the neocons will fail and these arms will end up in the self defense forces hands. But the neocons will never accept defeat. Even when they fail which is virtually always they just double down. They're like the borg, they never quit, they're relentless. At some point these nutjobs will just say ok we're going to put American and NATO forces into Ukraine to fight alongside the Ukrainian army. The Ukrainians are then likely to prevail because the rebels won't be able to stand up to NATO and American forces. At that point Putin will have a terrible choice to make, give up and accept Russian defeat, humiliation and loss of sovereignty or order a military intervention which means engaging NATO and WWIII with the use of nukes.
The experience has showed that Kiev troops-and in fact their independant bataillons-have killed civilians and prisonners in Dombass.Separatists are considered has untermenshen. So Russia has no warranty at all that the civilians /and or prisonners will not be killed.Kiev cannot be trusted. They have a democratic language for Merkel,EEC and Nato and another language with the separatists. That is the real reason of absence of results. The us arms will be an escalation to the WW3.
Based on the FedGov's track record in Syria, the Donetsk Republic can plan on receiving new arms very soon. Maybe Obama's handlers aren't letting him see the reports on desertion from the Ukrainian Army? Or the reports on the encirclement battles that result in entire brigades of the Ukrainian Army being surrounded and forced to surrender?
It is now a crime in Ukraine to openly speak against the Civil war, to do so will have you charged with treason!……………….This is the Ukraine that America is backing………………..This is the Ukraine that America aided by giving the billions to overthrow the elected Ukraine Government TWICE!
The more we back this loser regime in the Ukraine – who seems to get more fascist by the day – the worse we look. A more pointless and negative conflict to become embroiled in I can't imagine. So much potential for failure and for the situation to get out of control…for what exactly? They don't expect us to think it's for the Ukrainian's FREEDOM, do they? The Ukraine already had that.
But it seems that this is Barry's objective: stumble idiotically, create failed states, create hatred for the US on top of what Bush 2 created, continue to lie, cheat and bankrupt and set up the stage for the partisan imbecile who will no doubt follow.
The people that run this country hate it. Wonder who they might be…
“The Russian-backed forces routed the invaders around the Donetsk airport and have pressed a counterattack, taking control of an additional 500 square kilometers of territory and threatening the town of Debaltseve”
Clearly all of Europe has grave apprehension that Empire USA has such greed for expansion that it could get them all killed. For even though the US backed fascist coup has hit a stone wall on every front, even though Putin stands square in the right and has the military might to stand his ground, our Empire is so glory crazy as to press NATO hard for an all-out military confrontation.
sadly the eastern russian speaking ukrainians were ll for special standing but not so much an opne conlfict, which is what they now have. When Putin imported people like Igor Girkin aka : the shooter to be defense minister, you know what the Kremlin wants, and what it wants is NOT in Ukrainian interest even for Russian speakers, only the kremlins.
Kiev does not care about the interests of russian speaking ukrainian even with an imported girkin or without him.
Maybe. But consider the decision processes of the West's "intelligensia":
1) Didn't see this coming when they regime-changed and offered and all-or-nothing move to EU/NATO: DUMB FUCKS
2) Saw this coming but went ahead anyway: DUMBER FUCKS
Which is worse? God help us!
How about the EU just said "no" and "we will force down any US military transport planes heading to Ukraine" and "inspect any US military transport ships heading to Ukraine"?
The Poles would probably say no, but so what.
Isn't that what they said about the aide the shipped to Syria?
