From the moment the US began sending lethal arms to Syrian rebel factions, there were a chorus of people expressing fears that those arms would end up in the “wrong hands,” and US officials insisted they were going to carefully vet everyone who got those weapons.
You know who got a lot of those weapons? ISIS. Just as everyone predicted would happen, once the arms were smuggled into Syria, they quickly ended up spread out among rebel factions, both pro-US and not, and a new report shows massive amounts of ISIS armament was actually stamped “Property of US Govt.”
Some of those small arms were surely looted from Iraqi bases during the offensive in Mosul, which is also where ISIS got most of its arsenal of US-made military vehicles. That’s not the whole story, however.
The ISIS weapons, cataloged after being captured by Kurdish forces, also included US-made anti-tank missiles that appear to have been part of a delivery provided to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), one of those carefully vetted rebel factions.
How the TOW missiles got from FSA “moderates” to ISIS is anyone’s guess, but the factions are not so starkly divided as officials have imagined, and fighters and gear often flow back and forth.
Pinning down the exact route the US arms took to get to ISIS will be all but impossible, as ISIS appears to have had the foresight to weld over the serial numbers to prevent any conclusive proof of the chain of transactions.
The Syrian rebel factions still getting US arms loudly denied that they were providing their arms to ISIS, and insisted the “overwhelming majority” of US military aid is still being used by the FSA to fight America’s enemies.
That’s a fiction ISIS seems only too willing to continue facilitating, as it would keep those massive US arms shipments flowing, giving ISIS a convenient source of arms as the US air war continues to boost its recruitment numbers.
Oh Please, is there ever an end to these lies? No there isnt.
Because when the American People learn about this, there will be hell to pay
Most folks are drinking a six pack and watching the NFL and couldn't care less.
Well the American people have already learned a lot of bad things, but nobody has paid anything, except for the people themselves.
Should be a treason case in there somewhere.
…there was also funding the Taliban by protection/passage money on US military supply routes… Many would call it incompetence, some would call it laundering. As long as the former excuse works, nobody hangs…
>would end up in the “wrong hands,”" ???
What clever trick to cover that it are THE SAME HANDS, the same U.S./Saudi -recruited, hired, trained and armed criminals being sold as Islamists which believe they are in opposite to USA, but in reality are nothing that their tools, their proxy fighters. US drones regularly bomb the Islamist command structure into the right shape – in Pakistan, Yemen and everywhere.

The new map for the whole region that is now full-filled with these fighters was already made by US army in 2006:
The Chaos In Iraq Is By DESIGN https://counterpsy.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/wp… http://counterpsyops.com/2014/06/27/the-chaos-in-… The above map was prepared by Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters. It was published in the Armed Forces Journal in June 2006, Peters is a retired colonel of the U.S. National War Academy. (Map Copyright Lieutenant-Colonel Ralph Peters 2006).
Although the map does not officially reflect Pentagon doctrine, it has been used in a training program at NATO’s Defense College for senior military officers”. (See Plans for Redrawing the Middle East: The Project for a “New Middle East” By Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, Global Research, November 2006)
Iran Exposes ISIS! Top Commander Says It's Supported by US, Israel and KSA!
Do you really believe in this recent alleged "suprise attack", when Islamist took over huge military equipment in Northern Iraq – despite the whole region is scanned by satellite? This was a well planned handing over of a large amount of weapons.
A lot of these weapons were probably captured in battle. ISIS forces could easily have infiltrated Free Syrian Army groups. And as you say many fighters likely defected from the FSA after they were soundly defeated in battle . Just as everyone opposed to this insanity predicted. This could be a big problem for Hillary. And Obama, like Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George Bush Jr., may be about to find out the high cost of a major foreign war.
"And Obama, like Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George Bush Jr., may be about to find out the high cost of a major foreign war."
… which for them is cushy retirement, a peaceful death at home, no arrest, never having to be close enough to dissent to hear it.
The so-called Islamic Front overran two major FSA supply depots last winter. The spectacular growth of ISIS in recent months has drawn in significant numbers of former Islamic Front fighters to ISIS, no doubt bringing with them much of the goods and gear seized in those raids.
Blow back, literally.
And this is why wars escalate so fast and quickly become lopsided, for in each battle to the victor go all the spoils, to the dominant party goes all the plunder.
Its high time to bring Wayne LaPierre onto the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
He is an expert at sorting the "bad guys' from the "good guys".
ISIS is the new Al-Qaeda. Then it is not. It is whatever Washington wants it to be, whatever political motive it can serve at any given time. Especially at a time when Americans do not want to see "boots on the ground". US shows a history of using these jihad groups for their own ends. People were saying years ago how the US has the need to create enemies abroad where there are none to fuel the rapacious MIC. Everyone has US weapons, then that's good, since it means our arms manufacturers and war profiteers are making money. That's all that counts to them, just like with the Ukraine: overhyped imaginary Russian threat that is a psychological operation to do nothing more than prepare these nations to fund NATO expansion, and also to bring the missile shield up to the Russian border.
Why now would it be any different with Johnny Jihad and the "Caliph" and his Rolex watch? (God what a phony b!tch puppet that al-Baghdadi is…) Because Obama says so? Because bombing them creates plausible deniability?
Please.
Don't assume it was ISIS that welded over the serial numbers. Why do they care that much?
No, that was probably by the US or whoever supplied the US arms. The motive to conceal support of Syrian rebels is on the US, and even more on Israel. Think about the bureaucratic nightmare from the arms we sent to Mexico, and multiply that concern by Middle East sensitivity.
Everyone else is fairly open about it, and the ISIS itself brags about what it gets.
How tiresome! The funding and arming went to the strongest group. The one that managed to subdue all other smaller Salafi groups that sprung up in Syria, drawn by easy money and the life of mercenary. All in the name of religion! The one that prevailed was the one that was the most cruel — instilling fear in Syrian soldiers, civilians and other competing groups. ISIL is still a conglomeration of groups, and those groups still have some autonomy. The main reason is the desintegration of society in war, where in the end only micro-communities support their population. We may call them "tribes", but we are all "tribal' in situations of war chaos, civil war and the absence of authority to rely on. This is why ISIS or ISIL — with its leadership must be under pressure by local "tribal" leaders. Leadership of ISIS clearly are supporting US geopolitical goals in region. Forcing the change of government in Bagdhad, endangering Kurds — and forcing them to accept US "help", and US diktat over their affairs, putting pressure on key headwater areas, endangeing Turkey and Irak, and pretending the bombing of Gaza did not happen. Kurds are now puppets — they will remain in Baghdad goverment if their conditions met, or will declare "independence" as US protectorate. These are all achievements of ISIS. Now, they just have to get into Syria, and crush the Government, after that Lebanon is next. The New Middle East! The beheadings are just for Western population to approve neocon war — just for show. Will it work? NO. Neocons always count their chicken too soon, and have a habit to compensate for their failures by picking on the next target, or by playing divide et impera that will blow in their — that is our — faces. Example — let's go back to "tribal' loyalties in Iraq. Leadership of ISIS, former US "captive" in Iraq, and then an "asset", Mr. Badhdadi (creative name — meaning the man from Bagdhad)., will not be able to keep the loyalty of his fighters, once their own tribal interests get into conflict with ISIS financial sponsors. Worse yet, they will not fail to notice two things. One, all the goals have an odor of serving as US ground forces.
And second, the bombing of ISIS positions looks suspiciously aimed at the potentially "not compliant groups". Anti-Americanism will assert itself — this time with teeth. What will happen next? Iran will only support core Shiia interests, but not get involved in combating Sunni extremism. They can afford to wait until ISIS starts to fall apart, and then watch panic in Saudi Arabia and Gulf States. Those CANNOT afford to stop supporting extremists, otherwise, it will come home to a fertile soil. They will have to support various groups, hoping they destroy each other. Happy ending for Kurdish "independence" will not realize, for as long as Turkey will oppose it. And Turkey is on the verge of cutting a deal with Ocalan — Kurdish leader in prison, for a negotiated settlement that will oppose US domination of Kurdish area in Iraq. These are some of the possible scenarios, but there are many. I do not see any scenario by which ISIS will remain united and under current leadership for long. The selective bombing US is conducting will split them — as it wil become obvious that the current ISIS leadership is eliminating its possible rivals and non-compliants.
Look: Washington or other Washington, the USG or the other USG have no policy but what has been lied on them by others, Saudis p/UAE wanted the regime change in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Iran, USG doing it for them, now that they are stocked with their creation they have no strategy to deal with it.
If Barack Hussein Obama were a progressive democrats, as he pretend to be since day one, he simply shouldn't fallow the other USG advice arming the Syria rebels, he simply should have said no to Syrian "opposition" which consisted of ISIS then, ISIS was under the USG radar from day one, they trained them, Saudis/UAE and Turkish government supported them, ISIS simply was to big then to be ignored or considered to be part of Syria rebel, they even said so when McCain had his photo opportunity with them.
It all started when Hillary Clinton encouraging the Islamization of the middle east,(like Madeline Albright did in Kosovo using the Sunni starting the war in Balkan) by the brotherhood when they meet in Egypt, France and England.
Let's presume that Obama is a progressive president, shouldn't he know that there are factions within the brotherhood who are feed by caliphate sects in Saudi Arabia and UAE waiting for their time of revenge, he should have know that Islamic brotherhood is a religious regime, they have no respect for democracy but their caliphate system. If nothing, Just wait and see when Erdogan regime start the process with shariah law in Turkey.
Caliphate system is the last social political framed inhuman constitution by any religious system, one man one law (shariah) is what is ruling Saudi Arabia/UAE no matter what they drive or spend their money on luxury buying weapons from the other USG or investing with oil companies as they are the partners.
"… Pinning down the exact route the US arms took to get to ISIS will be all but impossible …"
yeah, right …
Is this a rhetorical question?
How about Benghazi or some other CIA-run clone-affiliate. Wait … what? But, the US is bombing IS. And just to make sure they don't help Assad, they want to bomb Syrian forces as well. Obama considering his itinerary — hmm, let's see, bomb Assad, check. Truly Orwellian double-think.
Saudi and Qatar are funding/backing IS, so put them at the top of the list.
Baghdadi was trained by Mossad, so Israel is on the list. More likely for intel, training and logistics than hardware. Speaking of which, why has Israel been silent on the whole IS issue? Clearly, a rhetorical question. Is IS going to mess w Israel? Another rhetorical question, since noone messes w Israel. Want to get rid of IS? Have the Israelis take them out. Mission Accomplished … badaboom. But no … IS is an Israeli sponsored and supported creature.
Finally, the entire US merchants-of-death export industry has benefited tremendously from the opening up of new market opportunities with IS, not to mention the militarization of domestic US police forces. Channels and distribution are a bit of a problem, but lots of friends and clients in the region. Check.
So, who benefits from chaos and failed energy-rich states in the middle east? c'mon, not a trick question. Answer: all of the above.
This is not a drive-by shooting.
al-Qaeda was a dry-run US-created and sponsored terror organization. Ended up being a limp-dick. US deep state needs a worthy and truly evil opponent to justify trillion dollar military and anti-terror budgets.
IS is a significantly refined Terror rev.2.0. Who is not appalled that (2) American journalists were ferociously beheaded by Satan incarnate, with a multimedia campaign to prove it. Truly disgusting. Send more kids to war!!! Perfect target for War on Terror 2.0.
What can go wrong?
All that to say, let's remove the mystery behind the geopolitics of the middle-east (and now Africa). There is no mystery.
Who dunnit? umm … the US, in Iraq, with a manpad.
Or everyone — the US, Russia, China, Israel, Saudis, Qatar, UAE, Iran, UK, France, Germany, and the list goes on.
Honestly, perhaps it is the interconnectedness of everything, or 24/7 anywhere information, but the cover has likely been blown off of the nefarious activities state actors have been undertaking for centuries. Its just a bit shocking to the "common man," but this is nothing new. Now we are all in on the secret. Wohoo!
Anyone for tea?
To the store selling footballs and helmets it doesn't matter which team wins so long as all teams keep playing and more and more teams keep joining the league.
When will the treason trial of Insane McCain start?
