With rumors constantly circulating about the imminent invasion of their towns by neo-Nazi factions from the western portions of the country, eastern Ukraine’s towns are mostly under lockdown, with a “siege mentality” setting in.
Between the very real threat of military attack and the perceived risk of attack by westerners, the locals in protester-held cities, particularly in Donetsk Province, are setting up more and more barricades.
The protesters continue to expand their control over the smaller towns around Donetsk, shoring up their positions. With the situation slowly transitioning into a civil war, those towns could quickly find themselves directly at odds.
So far, the military offensive has centered on the cities of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk, both neighboring one another on the edge of the protester-held territory. Yet these cities are also some of the most heavily fortified, setting up protracted fights over control.
You can be sure, unfortunately that Amerikan WARMONGERS 'WILL' GET INVOLVED..
Neo-Nazi from the west? unheard of in the mainstream media, lets just call them "moderate neo-Nazi."
This situation appeared after a blind support from the west to the "new" governement of Kiev.Nuland was thinking that Kiev is whole Ukraine.Yanukovitsh is a bad guy but it does not mean that USA have to support unconditionnaly the Kiev hypernationalist who want to impose a forced ukrainization to russian people who lived is these regions from the 18th century. The referendum must not mean to fall appart from Ukraine. It means that Kiev guys should heard and listen the south. For the time beying they sent a new formed army (previous did not want to shoot. The new one ask the soldier to sign a paper where he confirms that he is not afraid to kill civis or old people)
"… a paper where he confirms that he is not afraid to kill civis or old people…"
Really? Please provide a link. I tried, but couldn't get anything from google.
Remember that the Kiev putsch occurred after the May elections had already been agreed. Clearly the putsch leaders were not really interested in elections and a united Ukraine, clearly they wanted bloodshed and war from the start. From the very beginning the NATO-backed fascists have been deliberately provocative and divisive. With every atrocity and every life lost, the chance of for any type of peaceful settlement gets more remote, at every stage the Kiev junta had a choice and invariably chose hatred and violence.
The mainly hereditary oligarchs who run the western world are clearly suffering from terminal cases of 'affluenza', there is no scenario where this ends well for mankind at large.
Exactly right and well said.
"the imminent invasion of their towns by neo-Nazi factions "
Neo-nazis trained and financed by the CIA and EU countries.
Real democracy!

Isn't it odd that in an area with over 70% Ukrainian population, there are no pro-Ukrainian demonstrations? Both sides can demonstrate in Odessa, why not in Kramatorsk and Slovyansk?
Just because people are Ukrainian, that doesn't automatically make them supporters of the US/NATO-backed, jack-booted thugs. Perhaps, clearly unlike you, they think that there is something morally dubious about deliberately burning people alive because they disagree with you.
As I mentioned above, the putsch happened AFTER the May elections had been agreed. If the Junta thought that they had majority support why not wait for the elections? if you are claiming that the fascists have majority support, even in the east, then why fear a referendum on federalisation?
