Another military leader as defected to Syria’s growing rebellion, this time Major General Abdulaziz al-Shallal, the head of the nation’s military police, who appeared in a video today, reportedly from Turkey, to announce his decision.
Maj. Gen. Shallal appears in uniform in the statement, and accused the Syrian Army of being a collection of “gangs of murder and destruction.” He also claimed others were planning to defect, but had yet to be able to.
The US State Department praised Shallal’s defection, saying it proved that regime change was “inevitable.” The Free Syrian Army claimed Shallal’s defection required him to cross the border on horseback for some inscrutable reason.
Syrian government officials downplayed the significance of the defection, noting that Shallal was nearing retirement at any rate. As is so often the case, however, the battle will be primarily about international public opinion rather than the practical matter of the war on the ground, as rebels remain focused on convincing NATO to invade and install them outright.

The so-called "Syrian Military Police Chief" (a seemingly useless position in the described "Brutal Assad Dictatorship"–accepting what's typically 'said' among ignorant idiots) has allegedly "defected" to the nation of Turkey to "join" the "people's rebellion" of Turkey?!?!?!?!?! Or is it "Syria"??????
I'm so 'confused' right now about who's who…and who's joining what….

My gut instinct is that this allegation by the retiring "military policeman" that: the "Syrian Arab Army" has now degenerated into so-called "gangs of murder and destruction" ('gangs' of 'murder and destruction' being key)…while they (the "Syrian Arab Army) fight self-proclaimed car bombers consisting of "gangs" who also loot homes of civilians, burn and destroy public and private property, and kill people…including their fellow "soldiers"… 'may' not play well…
While this 'line' "may" have 'seemed' like it would, on paper, play well to the "Syrian People" in the 'minds' of the so-called "Syrian opposition" apparently based in Turkey and elsewhere abroad…I 'think' this whole thing 'may' backfire in the end….
Just a guess here….
When USA is able to print some millions of dollars for even many Libyan tribes to stop Gaddafi support, what do you think they are able to pay a single person ?
Of course he has a dangerous job and the situation does not look good, so why not taking money and security instead of deathly treats and prison? This is not the first time we had this.

Right – preventing "the Syrian Army of being a collection of “gangs of murder and destruction.”
And why should a army of Syrians destroy their own country – which is definitely destroyed by the killers USA has hired?
Why should they murder ? Their own people, nighbours, families?

I find it unbelievable what obvious fraud news from the US WAR PROPAGANDA MACHINE is distributed here on the "antiwar" website.
It shows how elaborated war propaganda already is. They try even to brainwash antiwar movement.
BTW: USA had bribed many tribes in Libya with millions not to support Gaddafi – to bribe a single person for war propaganda by offering a secure life and wealth instead of danger in this position is no problem at all.

It seems as though an 'interesting' "proposal" by Assad himself (or US 'democracy' proponents and the 'neutral' UN intersted in so-called "peace") has allegedly been put forward, so as to satisfy 'calls' for Assad to "step down", so to speak, as soon as next year…

All this seems "fair"… Assad doesn't 'run', as long as "Syrian people", "people" who happen to support Assad (they, as "people", do in fact exist, much to the political dismay of many all over the globe) can, in turn, determine who can or cannot 'run' in a future "Syrian election" on the "other side(s)" ….
All this seems illogical; however, 'fair is fair"…right??? Why don't we in the US just let special envoy Brahimi determine who can "run" and who can't our own 'elections'? Seems simpler that way…
The problem of "Assad", which 'seems' central to all of this so-called "civil war", seems to be 'resolved' now by this straightforward "proposal"…which 'seems' to satisfy the clammoring of even US "officials"…
So…what's the 'issue(s)' now, if any remain?
