America’s War in the Philippines Continues

It doesn’t get anywhere near the coverage that the various other wars do, but nine years in the US war in the Philippines, aimed at helping the Philippines government crush Muslim separatists, shows no sign of ending. Some 600 special forces troops are in the country, and there is no indication they’ll be leaving.

One should really read the history of the area to understand that the people did not care if they were o ccupied by the Japanese or the United States. From the end of the Spanish American war the USA killed thousands of locals and there is no case to be made that we were any better than any other colonial power. The John Wayne movies were what they wanted the world to think. The people of IndoChina helped the USA during WWII only to have IKE to provide the air transportation to get the french army back in power. We will continue endless wars to keep myths going.

American involvement in the Phillippines has been nothing but a disaster. It played a key role in causing war with Japan – from which we gained nothing – and that led to an even deeper involvement in Asia, from which we still gain nothing. The mistake goes all the way back to 1898. We should get out of Asia altogether.

It would be easier and more accurate to say "America's War on The World Continues" that would be more representative of the current state of affairs. The Emperor and his Praetorian Guard have, indeed, gone mad.

Show me one country where America's involvement has been anything but a disaster, please.

Which is why I don't support an interventionist foreign policy.
