The anger spilling into the streets of Cairo, Suez, Alexandria and other cities was focused like a laser beam on President Hosni Mubarak on Friday. As the protests move forward, however, the resentment is spreading beyond Mubarak and his immediate underlings, and toward the United States and Israel.
It isn’t hard to see why. The United States has been backing the Mubarak regime to the tune of billions of dollars over the past three decades, and even with scores dead and the regime’s legitimacy in tatters, US officials are still demanding Mubarak remain in power, though maybe with some trivial reforms.
And while Israel, for its part, is staying as officially quiet as is humanly possible about a massive revolt along its western border, beyond wondering how it snuck up on them, Obama Administration officials are continually citing Israel as the reason they are opposing regime change in Egypt.
As the Obama Administration digs in more and more in supporting Mubarak, it seems that they are fueling more resentment against them and, consequently, are all the more afraid that the inevitable regime change will have negative consequences for US-Egypt relations.
Clinton said today the US will not allow a hostile Islamic regime to form in Egypt.
At this stage, there is very little the US can do about an Islamic government. Free election would definitely bring in a government dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood.
I've spoken to several Egyptian friends from Cairo who have all stated that the US media is blowing this Muslim Brotherhood thing out of proportion. This organization IS NOT the militant Islamist organization it was a few decades ago, though they undoubtedly have aging members who still harbor radical beliefs. Just the mere fact that they would like to form an interim government with the VERY secular El Baradei supports this fact. The Brotherhood is the largest opposition party to Mubarak's rule, and a boogeyman that has been used by Mubarak and his friends in Tele Aviv to justify his represssive police state. From what I'm hearing from Egyptians, I highly doubt that they'll wind up with a theocracy.
Iran, circa 1979 this ain't.
Why does an Islamic nation have to be categorized as hostile before it's even known how it's going to all shake out? Just because one Islamic nation is very harsh, that doesn't mean EVERY Islamic nation- sharia law or not- is automatically harsh. I, for one, would love to see a nation run by true, moderate sharia law so the world could see it's not a bad thing when done with restraint and true belief in the system. We've already seen the results of western-style 'democracy' being foisted on nations who didn't ask or want it, why not give something else a chance? If you don't like it, don't trade with them- simple as that.
So the US is going to force the Egyptian military to kill its own people or loose the $1.5 billion per year cash flow from the US.
Yes, the military can attempt to derail this Revolution and that will precipitate an all out civil war.
I dunno about this. I think that it is possible that the Presidential Guard might attempt to do this, but I cannot see the general military actually opening up on the protesters.
The really scary civil war scenario is the Presidential Guard vs the General Army.
They are assassinating their own (American) why wouldn't they support extermination of Muslims and Egyptians whom they consider lesser than human beings?
Zionist tentacles are global. It is a poison affecting all international relations. Conditions bad. Getting worse.
Egypt is a people power revolution! Mrs. Clinton and the rest of the U.S. administration is only stalling, but cannot stop the inevitable.
This is ugly america and will do what ever they can to kill Egytian and save Israelis but the history will never forgive america a hostile state against Muslims around the world.
Every child to be born will hate america foir their wrong doings.
"Obama Administration officials are continually citing Israel as the reason they are opposing regime change in Egypt."
The FedGov openly confesses that its meddling in the Middle East is for the purpose of supporting the Zionist thugs.
as far as it goes for the US it's ALL ABOUT ISRAEL.
Well one way or another…….It's a non stoppable phenomenon,So goodluck to all the Muslim countries. We will soon have one in Pakistan, which as a matter of fact started in 2007 and is on.But now it will be accelerated. Therefore America please starting recieving all those puppets you installed in the muslim wprld.
MoMobarack's political party is called NDP. Na'zi'tional Democratic Party.–
One thing is very clear that American media is blowing this uprising out of proportion trying to scare American public aboout islamist coming to power in Egypt. Brotherhood is a minor player in this uprising. Everyone knows that but they don,t want to admit. They want democracy in their countries but not in Muslim/ third world poor countries. That is called double strandard. American media mixes up the dislike of American policies with the dislike of American people. No one in Muslim countries hates American people , people do hate United Staes government policies. People see their actions not the lip service they give to democracy, human rights, freedom. This is the time American government should side with the people of Egypt not with the dictator. Democracy in Muslim world will benefit everyone including America and the West.
The case of the worse timing has to go to Mike:
Preliminary plans for the Beit Orot neighborhood on Mount Scopus call for the construction of 24 homes; former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee attends ceremony.'
What a dork. The guy never thought that the entire arab is on fire and he has to prostitute himself to try to get a few campaign bucks. Mike the world understand that the Illegal settlers are stealing arab homes and the Israel government is knocking down arab homes to make room for illegal settlers. Israel is in great danger because of fool who support Israel no matter how stupid the policy. Lets hope the people of Israel are smarter than Mike.
young, unemployed and highly educated Egyptians know the score and whitch boots have been on their necks. This is the new world order
It's always about Israel isn't it ? We must cut off our own heads to protect Israel. We must kill democracy in order to save Israel. Nobody has the right to their rights unless they bow down to Israel – and then we call them religious fanatics.
Michel Chossudovsky in a new article: Dictators do not dictate, they obey orders makes more sense and is sadly sobering but necessary as proper analysis to not be duped by the mass media deceptive mind control disinformation. : http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&ai...
The point is what is taking place in Egypt is another "Color Revolution" and until Jason Ditz reported that US is fingered as Egypt's overload with Mubarak merely another stooge, just as Obama is in fact, this is not democracy in the street, this is another psyops to fool as many people as possible, including in the US. Use the link and read the article, I was not allowed to paste excepts here.
Yep. They hate us because of our freedoms. And maybe because of the 1.5 billion we give Egypt every year(including military aid) that is used to supress the locals and be buds with Israel. No blowback here.
I thought I heard someone saying something about chickens? Something about them coming home to roost?
Hm… maybe it was something like "As ye sow, so shall ye reap". Pretty darned appropriate.
Hm, it's kind of strange that now all we hear about is the Muslim Brotherhood- aren't they deviating from the storyline that Al-Quaeda and the Taliban are the most evil, heinous threat to the world and The American Way? People need to get real- the MB is a moderately powerful political force in Egypt, yes, but it is not the boogeyman it's being made out to be. Sure, the MB would love to have an Islamically correct government in place in Egypt, but it's up to the people to decide that on their own. The one thing you are sure NOT to see is a hugely oppressive regime that just steps into the shoes of Mubarak's people- and certainly nothing the like of Nigeria!
The moral of the story is: don't believe everything you read in the MSM or what you hear on TV; these days it's extremely unlikely you'll get the whole story or even part of the truth. Do your own homework.
1- John_ Mohammad.., we are living in what is called a “Christians” world, here you ca not hear other argument then Islamic o Phobia, have you heard anyone arguing that their is a Christianity o Phobia and it did started from the time of Christopher Columbus.., killing native Indians for their gold.
2- Mean while they are out there and want to conquer the world and what they ask is very simple.., please by quiet we are here to help you get ride of your oil because you don’t know how to use it, or your other natural resources that we need and your country is so poor and you are so uneducated that you don’t know what a natural resources is.., that was in early 1900 when Oil was discovered in Iran.., and now in 2011 they say.., but we solely interested in your country because of its location or let say our “strategic interest” because is a nicer way then using the say that we “ occupy – occupation” your country and whatever comes after that.., we wont hurt you.., but will kill you if you not helping us.., now if is not us we are going to place the one and only.., now if is called Shah of Iran or Mubarak or a apartheid regime or a militaristic regime with a real resume in being a racist – fascist.., like in Chile and other part of the world.., they will do the job for us. Now the concept was in 1950s so I wonder if they ever have noticed the changes in time since 1700 or even before the massacre of Christians by Christians in Europe and killings of natives in Amerika.
