Gates Touts ‘Progress’ as Afghan Violence Soars
Insists He Is 'Confident' Despite Record Death Tolls
22 US soldiers were killed in a four day span earlier this week, and two days ago it became official that 2010 was already the deadliest year for US troops in Afghanistan since the 2001 occupation began.
Typifying the short memories of top officials within the administration, Secretary Gates today toured a few bases and came away with boundless optimism, insisting that great progress has been made in the ever-worsening war and that he is “encouraged” by everything he sees.
Gates maintained that he is “confident” that the strategy of escalation announced in December, which has wrought nine consecutive months of record death tolls, is “working” and that he expects it to be vindicated in an upcoming December report on the war.

Secretary Gates should be indicted for violating his oath of office which is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. His fatuous statements concerning an unconstitutional military adventure are positively disgusting. Every American soldier who has died in Afghanistan is in reality a murder victim, killed in a conspiracy to wage aggressive war concocted by Secretary Gates and his generals.

The statement that "every American soldier who has died in Afghanistan is…a murder victim", may be true, but by volunteering to participate in that war of agression they have only themselves to blame. They are not defending our freedoms and they are not defending America.
If an intruder breaks into a home and gets shot by the homeowner, it's true that the intruder is a murder victim, but does that murdered intruder deserve sympathy?

The Obama ship is sinking and rats like Gates will soon be going overboard and swimming for land where they will sit on various boards of directors and get high paying gigs at NBC as expert commentators on anything from Afghanistan to the Meaning of Life.
