China has since denied this claim, and this article is replaced with this one
Unnamed sources were cited today by Israeli newspaper Haaretz as claiming that China was, after months of pressing, finally agreeing in principle to the idea of sanctions against Iran. The sources did not give any details beyond the broad claim.
Other news outlets reported only that China has agreed to negotiate with Western nations over possible sanctions, citing US envoy Susan Rice. But this claim does not appear materially different from a Chinese promise to participate in such talks last week, an agreement which did not appear to come with any endorsement of sanctions in principle.
Still, the notion that Iran might be losing its Chinese “shield” from UN sanctions was strengthened when top Iranian negotiator Saeed Jalili departed this evening for talks in China. China has opposed the sanctions on the grounds that they could harm negotiations, but Iran may feel the need to reassure them that they are still open to that negotiation, despite US claims to the contrary.
Even if China is on board for some form of sanctions, there would still be a considerable battle over the nature of those sanctions. Russia has refused to support any but the most limited sanctions, while the US remains determined to push for “crippling” sanctions.
And the sanctions are for —– what? I forgot.
For Israel, of course.
Well, the sanction on Iran is due to the genocide committed by Israel in Palestine, threat everyone with their nukes, bombs civilians, use fosforous on civilians, attack and destroy civilian homes with their tanks and jets .. I mean Israel has free hand to do all the crimes with no limits……upss… mmm….. ahhh, dam I'm lost too, What Iran did??
Here is why China is going along with Israel: Where do you think China gets its U.S. military technology?

This is a report made by members and comittees in Congress.
If Israel would sell out the U.S. for money, don't you think it would sell out the U.S. for its interests regarding the Iranian Nuclear Program?
The sanctions are a farce, completely symbolic…They will accomplish nothing.

It's amazing to me that Russia and China have decided to throw Iran under the bus. They must see that Iran is getting the concentrated version of encirclement and pressure that they are getting on a macro-level, and that any hope they might have for sovereignty depends on alliances with other nations that are concerned about the same thing. However, Obama's strategy of threats combined with bribes and carrots, and breaking down resistance country-by-country is quite masterful; it is here that he really shines in comparison to Bush. He plays the same game at home too. For example, Dennis Kucinich was a fey figure holding out against the Health 'Reform' debacle, until he got leaned on hard by Obama's coterie, and then shined on by Obama on Air Force One. A little hate, a little love, next thing you know, resistance is broken.
Plus, I guess China and Russia think that their interests lie with the 'Major Powers' and not with the plebian countries of the world.
The whole thing has the nauseating affect of really bad theater. Everyone knows that the propaganda against Iran is bull. Russia has even stated this over and over, not in so many words. China and Russia pretend for months that they won't go along with US schemes, but it's all really a bargaining ploy. Suddenly they change their stance, as if they've had some kind of revelation. Lol!!!! Whoops, I guess we think Iran is bad, bad, bad, after all. Naughty Iran just must be spanked.
No doubt the US is spinning this story, but if it was wrong, China would deny it. Clearly China has decided to agree to sanctions. The message to the world is, um, DON'T ALLY WITH CHINA OR RUSSIA, UNLESS YOU LIKE THE FEELING OF A KNIFE IN YOUR BACK!!
What's important about the sanctions, whatever they are, has nothing to do with their actual affect. The case for sanctions is the case for war. Once the sanctions have been agreed to, states like Russia and China are no longer in a position to oppose an attack on Iran. They have effectively agreed to one. So they have truly thrown Iran under the bush. For a price, presumably.
You're dreaming.
China has hundreds of billions of $$$$ invested in Iran's gas and oil fields and contracts for China to develop a number of Iran's untapped oil and gas resources. Do you honestly believe they would throw that a way to cozy up to the US? Iran is China's major source of energy. That is why Hilary was over twisting arms in Saudi Arabia to replace Iranian oil with a Saudi substitute.
China and Russia have veto power on the UN Security Council and if anything the US or Israel proposes that affects their interests will be vetoed. The Russians and the Chinese are co dependents on many things ie manufacturing capacity of China and natural resources, Russian technology and markets for Chinese goods and all are linked to Iran.
The Russians and the Chinese won't be throwing Iran under the Bus anytime soon. The Russians and Chinese are masters of deception and the Chinese especially are more than likely to tell an opponent what they want to hear and do the opposite.
If the Israelis are stupid enough to launch an attack on Iran they deserve exactly what they deserve, an ass kicking. If they even hint at using a nuclear option against Iran that shares a border with the Russian Federation, Russia will remind them of their folly by targeting the entire state of Israel.
China is like the big brother in that tv show "The Wonder Years". Everytime the brother runs up to the car, China pulls away. China will go along with the U.S. as long as it amounts to hot air. I am sure China and Russia are enjoying a little schadenfreude. The U.S. will look useless if all this bluster in teh end leads to China and Russia pulling the rug out from under Hillary, the smartest female on the planet.
Besides, if this embargo leads to trade advantages for either China or Russia, then they will promise to go along with the US until they see how things shake out.
