Obama: No Rush on Afghan Drawdown
President Careful to Avoid the Word 'Withdraw'
Speaking to reporters in Oslo today, President Barack Obama tried to clarify the conflicting statements by administration officials on the July 2011 timetable in Afghanistan, insisting as other officials had before that there was no rush in reducing the size of America’s massive military commitment to Afghanistan.
“I have been unambiguous about this, so there should not be a debate,” Obama declared. Yet the president’s initial comments were quickly disavowed by several top officials, including the Secretaries of State and Defense, who insisted the July 2011 date was not a firm one.
And President Obama’s comments today stood in stark contrast to his claim lasty week that America would “begin the transfer of our forces out of Afghanistan in July of 2011.” Today, he seemed careful to avoid the word ‘withdraw’ and insisted that the July date would be the beginning of a “transfer of responsibility” but not necessarily of troop removal, which would be “conditions based”
President Obama used Iraq as an analogy, where US forces began talking about a transition in Mid 2007, but two and a half years later have only removed a handful of troops.

Just what we need, another permanent, I'm sorry, I should say 'indefinite' occupation.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean–neither more nor less." "Withdraw" has morphed into "transfer of responsibility". Change you can believe in means no change at all.

Spending almost a trillion dollars fighting two VERY poor countries (without a result) makes me wonder how the US is going to handle Russia and/or China, because you can count on one or both of them to come up with a reason to go to war with America in the future, and as karma will have it, the reason will be as limp as the reason Bush gave for the Iraq invasion. It might even be the 2012 thing everybody is raving about
And a big HAHA to everybody who thought Obama was going to be different! He might have rockstar good looks (?) but he’s still a president of a country run by corporations.

The article is entitled; "Obama, No Rush on Afghan Drawdown." That's right, why should the Political-Warstreet Ruling Establishment be in a rush to get out now? After all, they have accomplished everything they set out to do. They have totally bankrupted America; fiscally, morally and spiritually. They might as well drive the last nail into America's coffin. And what is that giant sucking sound we hear? It is the sound of the American economy and the future of the American people going down the tubes. Welcome to the future my fellow Americans. Welcome to a future of no jobs, a future of growing and grinding poverty, a future of a jack-booted police state, and a future of no hope. Welcome to our Political-Warstreet Ruling Establishment's New World Order.

Nikita Krushchev had two predictions way back in the 1950's which NOW are coming true: (1) "We don't have to worry about the United States. They will spend themselves out of existence." (2) "We won't ever have to attack the U.S.; one day they will fall like a rotten plum from a tree." How did Krushchev know that in 2008 we would elect a Marxist President? How did Krushchev know that we would have one idiot moron President Bush to be followed by another idiot moron President Obama? It has been said of the Roman empire: "Rome did not fall because its armies weakened. Rome fell because its people forgot what it was like to be Romans." Historians will one day say the same thing about the 'American empire'. While, in our arrogance, we like to laugh at the French – at least in 1789 the French people had the courage to storm the Bastille. NO American people / sheep will ever storm the Congress – as they should! It is the end of the 'empire'!

Russia and China that's a very good point answer, they can't. I wouldn't wont to be faceing a Russian solder in combat and have to call in command bunker to get an ok to fire, as was in some case's in Nam.

These are all sound comments and it keeps me strong knowing that there are still Patriots out there. I feel real strongly about this country and the men and women that has fought and died for our Freedom. And it sickens me and makes so dam angry to think that we have a government that has stole us blind now is our own enemy and terrorist.
