Israeli officials have made their opposition to the Biden administration returning to the Iran nuclear deal known. Some have even threatened a military strike on Iran if President Biden revives the deal, known as the JCPOA.
An Israeli source affirmed this to Breaking Defense in an article published on Monday. “Israel needs to know — and fast — whether Washington plans to stop Iran’s race to the bomb or take some action to do this,” the source said, speaking on the condition of anonymity.
The source said that Israeli intelligence is monitoring Iran’s nuclear facilities closely. Israeli airstrikes on Syria were also mentioned, which have ramped up in recent months. “This pressure will continue and grow, as a preparation for a direct attack on targets in Iran,” the source said of airstrikes in Syria.
Israel always claims its airstrikes in Syria hit Iranian targets, but they usually strike Shia militias. Last week, an Israeli airstrike hit Syria that reportedly killed four civilians and destroyed three houses.
Earlier this month, Tzachi Hanegbi, an Israeli minister from the Likud party, made the most direct public threat against Iran. Hanegbi said that if the US returns to the JCPOA that “Israel will again be alone against Iran” and will attack Iran’s nuclear program.
Breaking Defense, its source, and Haneegbi all push the narrative that Iran is racing towards a bomb when that is not the case. One example they use is the fact that Iran recently increased uranium enrichment to 20 percent, which is still vastly lower than the 90 percent needed for weapons-grade uranium.
Despite the hype, the 20 percent enrichment has a civilian purpose. It allows Iran to make fuel rods for its Tehran Research Reactor, a facility that was built by the US in the 1960s that can produce medical isotopes.
Another crucial piece of context left out of the Breaking Defense article is the reason why Iran started enriching uranium at 20 percent. Iran’s parliament passed a bill to increase enrichment after the November assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the prominent Iranian scientist who was killed in an apparent Israeli plot. So it was Israeli aggression that led to the increased enrichment.
Iran has maintained that it is willing to return to compliance with the JCPOA if the Biden administration lifts sanctions. Any more attacks from Israel could prevent Iran from decreasing enrichment levels.
They won’t be joining because they won’t accept Iran’s preconditions.
No, that will only be the pretext.
What pre-conditions, that the U.S. re-enter the agreement without changing it?
That sets a bad precedent, it rewards the person who breaks the agreement. A reasonable procedure would be to say, ‘we will drop all sanctions on the day that you restore uranium levels to the JCPOA levels’.
Iran might insist on dropping sanctions first citing damages, which would be understandable, in return to reducing uranium levels within a fixed time period. That should also be acceptable.
I would not consider either scenario a ‘pre-condition’. Since we live in a time space continuum, there is no other way to do it.
Interesting, I’ve been updating an old conscious time space political fantasy from circa 216o… there’s four books yet you might enjoy a few minutes starting here;

with such an aggressive attitude, it is obvious to anyone with a brain that Israel no longer needs US assistance in financial or military arenas, so I say immediately cease any of both.
Exactly! If we weren’t owned by the Zionists we’d counter with our own threat: blockade.
A small country surrounded by hundreds of millions of declared arch enemies can ALWAYS use US support. America pissed away TRILLIONS of dollars since 911 on Muslims in countries that hate our guts, we also had thousands of American soldiers die and tens of thousands seriously life-changinly wounded in their Muslim civil wars; now you tell me, what did we get out of all that ?
Israelis always do their own fighting, bleeding and dying for themselves, Americans don’t jump into the meat grinder on their behalf. Israel is also a genuine friend, a country whom we can depend on, they are the opposite of the thankless/useless Afghanis and Iraqis whom we Americans have wasted far too much blood and money on supposedly “helping” over the last 20 years while getting nothing positive to show for it.
This is blackmail pure and simple.
An attack by Zionists on Iran will result in reprisals against every US base in missile range. Unless the US is willing to interdict the IDF, the US will either have to take the blows or go to war with Iran.. And Iran won’t be standing alone.
Russia and China will back Iran to the hilt.
Bottom line: America will cave to Israeli demands.
The Israelis are bluffing. They will not attack Iran unless the US goes along with it.
And Iran will not attack Israel because Russia will not let them and Iran needs Russia.
When Iran incrementally reduces compliance to the JCPOA after everyone else breaks 100% of the agreement, Zionists bellow, ‘nuclear blackmail’. But threat of an unprovoked Israeli attack to re-enter an international agreement is considered normal.
This is what decades of propaganda yields.
I clearly remember seeing on Breitbart, the day after Iran got its sweetheart deal with Obama, the news that Iran had fired a test missile, one they hope to have nuclear-tipped one day, with a message painted on it in English and Hebrew that said, “Death to America/Death to Israel.” Iran wanted to rub that crappy Obama deal in our faces and in doing so they told us all we need to know about them and their nuclear program. So I say, F Iran.
Let them!
Who the hell is that pipsqueak bully telling us what to do? Disarm the psychopathy and have real free elections with the Palestinians then you have peace..
In a normal world the beneficiary of 3.8 billion dollars annually donated by US taxpayers wouldn’t be threatening to undermine the benefactor’s diplomacy. Nor the automatic veto they enjoy at the UN from that same benefactor. And just imagine our reaction if our perceived enemy, Iran, made those same threats over the recent yard sale of lethal weapons that was passed off as peace deals with their Arab neighbors.
amerika pays its colonies to create problems then their idiot residents blame the colony
farcical
They won’t if the US tells them not to do it.
They are dependent on the US for parts and supplies, for bombs, even for jet fuel beyond a couple of days. Their entire stockpile in Israel is owned by the US and put there “for the US” but by courtesy made available to Israel in time of need. They can’t fight without it. It is billions in ammo and fuel and very expensive spare parts for things like the F-35 and F-15 and F-16.
They can not do it, without US help, including access to those war reserve stockpiles, cash, and US intelligence assets like satellites. The US spends more just on spying on Iran than the entire Israeli defense budget.
Of course, that would require a FIRM no, not just a wink and a nod while being holier-than-thou to the press.
A good question for the Israelis – Has Iran put in place yet a workable Russian SA–3 or Sa-4 air defense system? Might be good to know before launching any Israeli aircraft.
Though the craziness currently extant gives pause, there is little chance a General Jack Ripper will appear to cause WWIII, over Iran. It has been reported over and again that the JCOS have long expressed they want nothing to do with a war against Iran. Think the problems of Iraq multiplied several degrees.
The Likudniks have enough problems internally, they are having increased difficulty silencing their own peacenik movement and they ain’t going to war with Iran without US permission. Which isn’t coming.
After reading this I’m sure Israel has no worries:
Graham: Do you still consider Iran the largest state sponsor of terrorism?
Blinken: I do.
Graham: Do you consider Israel a racist nation?
Blinken: I do not.
Graham: Good start!

Israel has never done anything zithout US permission. So if they say say they will attack Iran if US rejoins JCPOA it means the Pentagon is telling them to say it.
Paper Tiger…!
Israel will never do it. It is a n old method of pushing US into war. Hope we remember the day when Saudi oil facility was mysteriously bombed — presumably Houthis drones, but also an unidentified missile. Israel
has panicked and Netanyahu declared that “this is an issue between US and Iran, and they do not wish to be in the middle.” So much for being brave.
I have been noticing patterns. Israel is showing its “courage” by attacking Syria’s undefended targets, mostly on Syria-Iraq border to prevent border control by either country so that famous desert people, branded ISIS can roam from Jordan bases, through US controlled parts of Deir Azzor and on accross the border to Iraq.
This is the extent of Israeli involvement,
Judging from the silence by Syria and Russia — I see a trap coming. Any meaningful move in Iran will bring about a regional war on Israel. Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan — backed by Russia and China would react decisively— air, land and sea. Israel is nervous, yet has the gambler’s suicidal urge. Egging US on.
I would not advise them to count on Gulf states to help when he missiles start flying. Israeli dome over Bahrain Fifth Fleet is not going to help.
