An Iranian official responded to claims of a successful U.S. cyberattack on Monday. “The media are asking about the veracity of the alleged cyberattack against Iran. No successful attack has been carried out by them, although they are making a lot of effort,” telecommunications minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said on Twitter on Monday.
U.S. media outlets reported on Saturday that cyber-attacks were launched against Iran’s rocket and missile controls.
Yahoo News, citing two former U.S. intelligence officials, reported on Friday that Cyber Command launched a retaliatory digital strike against an Iranian spy group that the U.S. claims was involved in the bombing of two oil tankers.
The Washington Post also reported on the incident, claiming the cyberattacks had crippled computers and disabled Iranian rocket launch systems.
Jahromi also mentioned the amount of cyberattacks Iran’s internet defense system stopped last year, “We foiled last year not one attack but 33 million attacks with Dejpha shield.”
