Yemen’s Houthis Say They Launched Drone Strike On Saudi Airport

by | May 20, 2019

The Houthis’ news channel said early Tuesday morning they targeted the airport in Najran, Saudi Arabia, striking an arms depot there with a Qasf-2k drone. Najran is a city in the southwest of Saudi Arabia close to the border of Yemen.

Col Turki al-Maliki, the spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition, said the Houthis “tried to target” a civilian site in Najran and referred to the Houthis as, “terrorist militias of Iran”, warning there would be a “strong deterrent” to such attacks.

These attacks come a week after the Houthis launched a drone strike on a Saudi oil pipeline west of Riyadh. The Saudis responded to the attack on their pipeline, with airstrikes in Sa’ana, killing at least 6 and wounding dozens more.
