Iran said on Saturday it has evidence that the latest assassination of an Iranian nuclear scientist was orchestrated, at least in part, by the Washington and the CIA.
The Iranian nuclear scientist, 32-year old Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, was killed on Tuesday by a magnetic bomb placed on his car by two unidentified assailants in northern Tehran. The attack, the fifth attack of its kind in two years, is widely believed to have been the work of some combination of U.S. and Israeli covert operations.
The U.S. has denied involvement in the attack. But in a letter to the Swiss ambassador in Tehran, which represents the U.S. in Iran, the Iranian foreign ministry wrote “We have reliable documents and evidence that this terrorist act was planned, guided and supported by the CIA.”
Iranian State TV also said another “letter of condemnation” had been sent to Britain, saying the killing of Iranian nuclear scientists began following an announcement by the head of Britain’s spy agency, MI6, operations against states seeking nuclear weapons would be taking place.
The rather calm, diplomatic reaction on the part of Iran has been difficult for foreign policy hawks to internalize. Sending a letter to the Swiss Embassy in response to international terrorist attacks, crippling sanctions, and provocative militarism in the Persian Gulf does not leave much room for hawks to paint Iran as the aggressor.
Obviously the Iranians are a few cuts above their caveman level antagonists….
Not for nothing they have a millenia civilization while the US, well…
Ahmadenajad is a calm smart man as can be seen in all public talks.Watch him on Larry King and others,Bibbi and the Lukid party are so much worse. They call for blood Iran has not attacked a country in over 300 years.
I think you're forgetting about the Iran Iraq war
Are you a complete idiot? Iraq attacked Iran, and when Saddam faltered and it looked like the Iranians were about to gain the upper hand, the Americans jumped in and helped Saddam with intel and chemical weapons precursors (war crimes on several levels).
This is not a Yahoo! — ie intellectually challenged — comments forum. The regulars here at Antiwar.com are "biased", which is to say, well informed. If you stay here rather than returning to your native "Stupidistan", you are going to be roundly abused,… (or perhaps learn something, but I doubt that.)
Iran is thousands of years old even before britain "they" the Iranians are not the savages that exist in britain and america and they are certainly not a pushover as Iraq we are dealing with people that knows how to deal with the likes of these terrorist countries aformentioned and they are farthing against thunder should they attack.
They can kill Iranian scientists–maybe one day they will kill students who study nuclear physics, but they also destroy their moral grounds in the hearts and minds of the people of the world. People may wonder which is really the axis of evil.
The real question is why is one nation allowed to murder people outside of the land area of that nation. I do not support murder I clearly am offended when one nation will go into another and murder because they can get away with it. Who made Israel the replacement for laws and God. God gives life and it is only God that has the right to destroy it.
During WWII the zionist murdered the lead British representative in the talks on dividing the land area between the people who actually owned the land and those who illegally immigrated into the area.
Then the chosen decided to settle the matter with rifles instead of talks. The area has not had peace since the zionist decided murder was there choice.
If I were them, I'd be less calm about it. You know, I couldn't help but say out loud: "Yeah B—h, take this other cheek too! Try and spin that one like you're not the a—-le here! @$@$ terrorists can't get any PR out of this!" –Er– -so that's one reason to be glad I'm not them. …now if I could only get rid of this GWoT-stain; then I'd be glad I'm an American.
to persnipoles: you are an American? These days, some people claim to be American but have their loyalty go somewhere else.
They are called Israel-firsters.
Yea, there are terrorists…they assassinated five Iranian scientists in 2 years and which country shot down Iranian civilian airline a few years ago?
Mind you, people are not as dump as you guys think. We could see through what you are!
How so?
Read persnipoles's comment again. I think somehow you're misunderstanding him.
One thing I could see that the comment shows: I was pretty well walled off from the death that occurred. I saw the man's face and it struck me he was probably well liked, probably a supervisor you'd like to have, and likely a father it would have been fun to play with. Then I went straight back to thinking like there's a chess game that Iran needs to win, here. This last part is also consistent with the last paragraph of the article, and with the way I'm thinking of US foreign policy most of the time.
One thing I was not doing, and shouldn't have appeared to have been doing, was equating Iran with 'terrorists.' The opposite should've been apparent in the comment. I'm definitely not an Israel-firster, or even an Israel-at-all-er.
The US ratings companies that downgraded the EU proved great allies of Iran. What sane EU member is going to vote to cut their neck by embargoing Iranian oil now? Plus the many moves to end the Petrodollar and Dollar Hegemony are pulling the plug. Much still needs to happen, but I would say the US Empire's gambit to exert Full Spectrum Dominance over the planet has ended in failure.
So you believe that the companies who do the rating are working with Iran? Did you think to look at the debit that the EU nations have? Do you know the amount of bonds those counties have issued?
YOu are correct the EU is stupid to downgrade the Iran oil and thus giving China a big economic help in lower prices that Iran will have to accept when Iran is forced to sell to China, Japan, and North Korea. The dollar already is in a death role and you are correct that Empire America is over. Killed because the leaders of the USA forgot how the founding fathers warned against getting involved in foreign affairs.
Why do they hate us?
They hate us for our deeds.
And the Soviets held Francis Gary Powers incommunicado while the US swore up and down we weren't spying on the USSR. Nope, never happened, our hands are clean and pure as the driven snow. That couldn't have been our plane you shot down- we'd never spy on you, no sir.
And then they show the world the evidence: wreckage of the U-2 AND a very much alive pilot.
Will Obama have his own 'U-2 Moment'? We may very well be watching it unfold.
Its beginning to look like this "war of words and murders" is orchestrated by the zionist israelis and their co-conspirators in the US to cripple the Obama effort at being re-elected. Israel could not contain Hezbolla in Lebanon and one can imagine the "regional" reactions to its attacking Iran.
The typical American is expected to believe that a state with over 200 nuclear war heads is scared of ONE state in the process of supposedly "creating" ONE nuclear war head. If so the tent maker has several bridges in Florida for sale.
I think It would be classic to see Hillary stand before the world and eat crow. Of course, she and the rest of the corrupt US administration will never admit they lied or that they got caught in a lie. They continue to believe that they have moral standing in the world… FAIL…
Israel and US postpone spring joint military activities. Citing money problems according to Agence Press reports.

Mos-sad & CIA bosses are rubbing their hand with glee…they phoned each others and congratulated themselves on the successful assassination, yet again and for the fifth times in the past 2 years…..Who is next Panetta asks his Mos-sad boss?….They still hate us for our freedom, justice, democracy and our way of life…we should kill them all if you ask me.
The international court of justice exist for the likes of Syria Libya Angola Serbia etc…. so why stop at the scientist we should kill all the students too.

Speaking of the U-2 thing,… here's an odd thought. The world has gone silent on the matter of the downed-into-Iranian-hands stealth drone. And out of the silence floats a notion: is it not the case that even as we read, China and Russia are clamoring for a look at it,…you know, a REALLY CLOSE look, (probably Iran is already hosting their techs and the drone in a secure location)?
So I'm asking myself, "If I were the Iranian big dog, and I had these two heavy hitters, oh, let's just say, in a solicitous frame of mind, what would I be asking for?" What would I, right now, in my current circumstances, my current predicament — my country, my people, the people in my care facing possibly "Nuklar combat toe-to-toe with the Jewskis", and Iran with, well, no actual nukes of her own. — what would I — what would you — be looking for in return,… you know, in return for access, close access, to the drone jewel? And how would you structure the deal to best secure delivery of whatever it was you had bargained for?
Just thinkin',… ya know, now that the drone has disappeared off the radar.
Jeff,
It certainly did disappear off the radar, in both senses!
