An Israeli strike in central Gaza on Sunday killed two Palestinians, including a three-year-old boy, as the IDF continues its constant ceasefire violations despite the announcement of a US-backed deal that would see Hamas give up its weapons.
The boy, identified as Tayyem Hamdan, was killed alongside a Palestinian man, Hussam Nusair, by an Israeli strike that hit near a bakery in Deir el-Balah, according to Palestinian health officials speaking to Reuters.
Photos show Hamdan’s mother and other relatives mourning him at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah. The IDF claimed without evidence that the strike targeted and killed a Hamas militant, though regardless of who was targeted, each Israeli strike is a violation of the October 2025 ceasefire deal.
Israeli attacks were reported in other parts of the Strip, including near the southern city of Khan Younis, where the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that an elderly woman was injured by Israeli gunfire.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said in its daily update, released about midday Gaza time, that Israeli attacks killed at least four Palestinians and wounded 14 over the previous 24-hour period. The ministry said that since the truce deal was signed in October 2025, the IDF has killed at least 1,318 Palestinians and wounded 4,375.
Despite the US and the so-called “Board of Peace” negotiating a disarmament deal with Hamas to advance the stalled peace deal, the US has also backed Israel’s continued strikes in Gaza, and Israel has rejected the US-backed proposal.
Israeli media reported that a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, that took place on August 17 ended with an agreement that Israel would continue bombing Gaza.
