President Trump on Wednesday threatened to destroy one bridge or power plant inside Iran for every ship that’s attacked by Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz as the US-Iran war continues to rage.
“From this point forward, any time the Islamic Republic of Iran shoots at a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether it be by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including those located next to, or in, the Capital City of Tehran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
In response, an unnamed Iranian official quoted by Iranian media said that Iran would respond to any further attacks on its infrastructure by targeting infrastructure elsewhere in the region.
Iran’s Mehr news agency said that an Iranian military source “warned that if the Americans target a bridge or a power plant of Iran, the Islamic Republic will reciprocally attack infrastructure and bridges in the region, including the energy facilities in which the US has interests.”
The source said that the US must “have reached full confidence in the past 10 days that Iran will target wherever it chooses.”
The US bombed at least three bridges in Iran last week, and Trump has repeatedly threatened massive strikes across the country to destroy power plants, bridges, and desalination plants. The president has also been threatening to bomb Pickaxe Mountain, known as Kolang Kouh in Iran, over alleged nuclear activity, which Iran denied on Wednesday.
“Iran’s nuclear activities have been fully declared to the IAEA in accordance with its safeguards obligations,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei wrote on X.
“Washington’s obsessive focus on Kolang Kouh where no nuclear activity is taking place is nothing more than a fabricated pretext for aggression, destruction, and sabotage,” Baqaei added.
