Israeli Strike in Southern Gaza Kills 12-Year-Old, Wounds Other Children

The IDF also conducted a ground incursion in northern Gaza as it works to seize more land

An Israeli strike on the al-Mawasi tent camp in southern Gaza on Wednesday killed at least one child and a man as the IDF continues its constant violations of the US-backed ceasefire deal.

The child who was killed has been identified as Ahmed Mohsen al-Raqab, who was just 12 years old. According to the Quds News Network, a man who was wounded in the attack succumbed to his wound and was pronounced dead. Photos and videos from the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis show that other children were wounded in the attack.

Israeli attacks hit other parts of Gaza, and the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported a ground incursion on the northern part of the Strip, saying military vehicles pushed into the al-Atatra area of Beith Lahia. “This incursion was accompanied by gunfire, bulldozing operations, and a siege of tents housing displaced persons in the area,” the WAFA report said.

WAFA also reported that Israeli forces “detonated a booby-trapped robot east of Gaza City, coinciding with the demolition of several homes in the eastern areas.” Gaza residents have reported an uptick in Israeli ground operations, which came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the IDF to increase its control of Gaza from 60% of the territory to 70%.

After the so-called ceasefire deal was signed in October 2025, Israeli troops were left occupying about 53% of Gaza, and the seizure of more territory is a clear violation of the agreement, which states that the “IDF will not return to areas that have been withdrawn from, as long as Hamas fully implements the agreement,” and Hamas had fulfilled its side of the deal by releasing all living Israeli hostages and bodies that it had and working to recover other Israeli remains.

Israel’s continued attacks are another clear violation of the deal, and according to the latest numbers released by Gaza’s Health Ministry on Wednesday, the IDF has killed at least 1,029 Palestinians in Gaza and has wounded 3,294.
