Iran’s Red Crescent Says More Than 82,000 ‘Civilian Units’ Damaged or Destroyed by US-Israeli Strikes

Strikes continued to pound cites across Iran on Tuesday

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) said on Tuesday that US and Israeli strikes have damaged or destroyed more than 82,000 “civilian units” in Iran since the war was launched on February 28.

The IRCS said the targets hit included 62,440 residential units, 19,187 commercial buildings, 481 schools, 281 medical facilities, and 17 IRCS centers. The group added that three IRCS helicopters, 48 operational vehicles, and 46 ambulances have also been destroyed.

According to Al Jazeera, the Iranian government has said that more than 1,500 civilians have been killed in the bombing campaign, a number that aligns with the Human Rights Activist News Agency, or HRANA, a US-based and US-funded NGO that’s very critical of the Iranian government.

The HRANA said on Tuesday that at least 1,455 civilians, including 217 children, have been killed by the US-Israeli strikes. The group said that attacks over the previous 24 hours killed at least 12 civilians and wounded 38 more.

US-Israeli strikes were reported in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, and Karaj. Strikes hit energy infrastructure after President Trump announced Monday that he was backing off on his plans to destroy Iran’s power plants for at least five days.

HRANA said it recorded attacks on Tuesday on a gas company facility, a power plant pipeline, a sports hall, four residential buildings in Tehran, and 30 shops. It also said strikes hit military bases, a missile site, and an ammunition factory.
