Israeli Attacks and Starvation Kill 75 Palestinians in Gaza Over 24 Hours

Israeli strikes in Gaza City killed 25 members of the same family

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that Israeli forces killed at least 71 Palestinians and wounded 304 over the previous 24-hour period as the IDF continues its destruction campaign in Gaza City and attacks elsewhere in the Strip.

The Health Ministry said that another four bodies of Palestinians killed by previous Israeli attacks were also recovered. “A number of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, where ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them at this time,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.

On top of the violent deaths, another four Palestinians starved to death amid the ongoing famine caused by the Israeli siege. “The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip recorded four deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from malnutrition to 440, including 147 children,” the ministry said.

Al Jazeera reported that Israeli strikes on Sunday morning in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood killed 25 members of the same family. Many more people are trapped under the rubble, and surviving family members said Israeli drones have been targeting people attempting to rescue them.

Israel’s goals for Gaza City include the forced displacement of the entire civilian population and razing every single building to the ground. Reuters reported that the IDF continued to blow up homes in Gaza City on Sunday and that a pregnant woman and her two children were among the people killed in the city. The Israeli military claims more than 450,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza City so far, while Hamas has put the number around 300,000 and says 900,000 civilians remain.

Israeli attacks on Sunday also targeted central Gaza, where a strike hit near an UNRWA clinic in the Bureij refugee camp, killing eight people, including four children, and two women.

The Health Ministry said that its violent death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 65,283, and the number of wounded has climbed to 166,575. Studies have found that the ministry’s numbers are likely a significant undercount.
