Ukrainian officials say they were able to cause damage to multiple Russian arms production plants. Russian officials reported that the Ukrainian aerial attack hit civilian targets.
Kiev claimed to have conducted a successful drone attack in Russia overnight Thursday. Ukrainian military officials reported causing damage to a factory that produces fighter jets, located approximately 80 miles south of Moscow. Additionally, the officials said a missile plant was hit in the Tula region.
The mayor of Tula confirmed a strike occurred in the region, reporting one person was killed and another injured. Moscow also claimed that an apartment building had collapsed due to a Ukrainian strike in the Russian-annexed Kherson region.
The Russian Defense Ministry said it had downed 115 Ukrainian drones overnight.
While Donald Trump told the American people that he would end the war in Ukraine during his first day in office, the conflict has continued to escalate during his Presidency.
Over recent weeks, Moscow has ramped up its drone and missile strikes on Ukraine. Russia fired over 700 drones and missiles at Ukraine overnight Wednesday, their largest attack of the war.
Trump has expressed frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the war continuing to escalate. Sources say the President is close to approving a $300 million weapons shipment to Ukraine. If Trump signs off on the transfer, which will likely include Patriot missiles, it would be the first of his second administration.
