Israeli Strikes in Gaza Kill 125 Over 24 Hours Amid Ramped-Up IDF Offensive

The IDF ordered the expulsion of Palestinians from Khan Younis on Monday, threatening that an 'unprecedented attack' was coming

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Monday that at least 125 Palestinians were killed and 364 were wounded over the previous 24-hour period as the Israeli military expanded military operations in the Strip.

The Health Ministry said that the bodies of 11 Palestinians who were killed in previous Israeli attacks were also recovered. “There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.

Heavy Israeli strikes hit the southern city of Khan Younis after the Israeli military ordered the evacuation of the area, threatening that an “unprecedented attack” was coming.

“The Israeli Defense Forces will launch an unprecedented attack to destroy the capabilities of terrorist organizations in this area,” Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic spokesman, wrote on X.

Adraee ordered Palestinians fleeing the area to head to al-Mawasi, a tent camp on the coast that has come under frequent IDF attacks. “From this moment, Khan Younis governorate will be considered a dangerous combat zone,” he wrote.

Medical sources told Al Jazeera that the Israeli military launched at least 30 strikes on Khan Younis on Monday, and attacks also hit the central and northern parts of Gaza.

More than 100 Palestinians have been reported killed on a daily basis for the past few days as the Israeli military has launched a new phase of its genocidal war on Gaza, an offensive it has dubbed “Gideon’s Chariots.” The purpose of the assault is the full Israeli takeover of Gaza and the destruction of any remaining buildings.

The ramped-up military operations have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Israel has maintained a total blockade on Gaza since March 2 and allowed five aid trucks into the Strip on Monday, a step Israeli officials have made clear is about maintaining US support for its plans to take over and destroy Gaza.

Aid groups say hundreds of aid trucks are needed to enter per day to bring real relief to the civilian population, as the majority of charity kitchens that many rely on for food have shut down.
