Israeli Forces Kill at Least 37 Palestinians in Gaza

Israeli tanks entered the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, and attacks continued in the north and south

Israeli attacks in Gaza killed at least 37 Palestinians on Monday, Palestinian medics told Reuters, as Israeli strikes continued across the Strip.

The majority of those reported killed were in central Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp. Israeli tanks entered the western side of the refugee camp, and health officials at the al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat said 20 people were killed in a series of ground and air attacks, including one that hit a tent camp.

Residents of Nuseirat told Reuters that the Israeli attack completely took them by surprise. “Some people couldn’t leave and remained trapped inside their homes, appealing to be allowed out, while others rushed out with whatever they could carry as they fled,” Mohammad, a Nuseirat resident, told the news outlet.

In southern Gaza, an Israeli strike hit a cafe west of the city of Khan Younis, killing seven. In the north, Israeli strikes continued in the city of Beith Lahia, which has been under total Israeli siege since early October as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign.

According to Al Jazeera, Israeli strikes again targeted the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahia, injuring three medical workers. Palestinian medics said attacks elsewhere in the city killed at least four people.

Gaza’s Health Ministry did not put out a daily death toll update on Monday. A day earlier, it said the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023 reached 43,603. The ministry’s numbers are considered a low estimate since it only counts bodies brought to hospitals and morgues.

A group of American healthcare workers who volunteered in Gaza have estimated the US-backed Israeli bombing campaign and siege has killed at least 118,908 Palestinians, including over 60,000 who have starved to death.
